Fox Sports Wisconsin:
MILWAUKEE -- Looking to add offense off the bench, the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night selected the contract of third baseman Taylor Green from Triple-A Nashville.
To make room for Green, the Brewers optioned reliever Tim Dillard to Nashville, but manager Ron Roenicke said Dillard would return to the major league roster after the mandatory 10 days in the minors. Teams can expand rosters beyond 25 players Sept. 1.
With Marco Estrada back in the bullpen and starter Chris Narveson there temporarily, Roenicke felt he was covered pitching wise.
"I wanted an extra bat," Roenicke said. "Estrada is in the bullpen now, Narveson's in the bullpen. So we thought we had some length there."
In 120 games with the Sounds, Green was batting .336 with 22 home runs, 91 RBI and a .412 on-base percentage. He will join the Brewers on Saturday and wear No. 5.
