The Chicago White Sox were swept last week.  That’s right, 0 for 7.  The White Sox have now lost ten game in a row and are 3-14 since the All-Star break.  There just really isn’t much else to say about the 2013 Chicago White Sox except that they’re an awful ball club. The team now sits at 29-games below .500.  Only the Houston Astros have a worse winning percentage at .327.  Even the Miami Marlins are winning more games than the White Sox and most are in agreement that the Marlins are awful. If you’re a White Sox fan looking for good news, well at least the current ten game slide isn’t the worst in Major League history.  The Lousiville Colonels lost 26 games in a row in 1889.  A more modern losing streak would be the 23 in a row lost by the 1961 Philadelphia Phillies.  Things aren’t as bad for the 2013 White Sox.  They’re aren’t quite the worst team in baseball but they’re getting close to the Astros 36-74 mark, as of Monday afternoon. Sunday’s game against the Detroit Tigers saw Paul Konerko tie the game in the 9th with a home run, and it looked as if the Sox may finally be able to end, what was then a nine-game losing streak.  However the Sox ended up losing in the 12th to Sox nemesis Torii Hunter who drove in Matt Tuiasosopo.  There you had it, another White Sox loss.  Losing streak at ten. This week the New York Yankees roll into town with the media circus for Alex Rodriguez in tow.  Rodriguez will be coming off the disabled list and playing Monday night as he has appeals his Biogenesis related suspension which is reported to be through the 2014 season.  This series could be the last time Alex Rodriguez is seen doing baseball related activities for some time.  After the Yankees leave town on Wednesday the Sox will have an off day, but will host the Minnesota Twins for four games, with a double-header on Friday.
