Found December 24, 2011 on Phillies Nation:
It’s that time of year that gets you in the mood to be jolly. The biggest of all holidays is loved by all, for many reasons. Phillies prospects are no different. I checked in recently with several minor leaguers to find out what stands out for them as reasons to get excited for Christmas.Highly ranked lefty pitching prospect and the Phils’ #1 draft choice last year, Jesse Biddle (pictured), took part….as did outfielders Brian Gump, Tyson Gillies and another former top draft selection Anthony Hewitt…right-handed hurler Tyler Knigge also offered his thoughts along with slugging first baseman Jim Murphy. What’s your favorite holiday movie?Jesse Biddle: My favorite movie is easily “Elf” with Will Ferrell because he plays a character perfect for my sense of humor. There is something about the innocent slapstick humor that I find hilarious.Brian Gump: Probably “Nightmare Before Christmas”, I think that counts as a Christmas movie right? It’s just a really imaginative movie and i...

Top Moment #20: K-Rod Falters, Phillies Comeback

It wasn’t too long ago when the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets had a very heated rivalry. Both teams were fighting for the National League East, but over the last couple of years the Phillies have separated themselves from the rest of the division while the Mets found themselves near the cellar. The Phillies/Mets rivalry wasn’t as intense in 2011, but any Phillies...

Report: Phillies Inquire About Jorge Posada

Don't shoot the messenger, but according to MLBTR.com, the Phillies have shown interst in free agent catcher Jorge Posada.  The news is quite surprising because the Phillies appear set at catcher with Carlos Ruiz and Brian Schnieder, and they appear comfortable with their bench players. But then again, Posada can play some first base, which means he could make a few spot...

The Man Who is the Reason for the Phillies Success: Ed Wade?! A Look Inside the Numbers

There’s no doubt that the Philadelphia Phillies are in an elite class of baseball teams today. There’s no doubt they were a special team when they won the World Series back in 2008. Both in their tenure made a few big additions by adding the likes of Brad Lidge, Roy Oswalt...

Even months after his historic trot around the bases, reality is still sinking in for Jim Thome. That powerful swing, a slice through the night that spawned one of his signature shots to the opposite field, propelled the Pride of Peoria into an elite class of legends.

Dr. Strangeglove: Saying Goodbye

In June 2009, when I was trying to find a job after graduating college, I started writing for a small Phillies blog run by a longtime friend of mine, Paul Boye. He wasn’t doing much with it, I figured, so why not let me on board? That site, The Phrontiersman, trundled along for a while at about 1,500 hits a month for seven months. We each probably posted about twice or three times...

Phillies share favorite Christmas memories

The Phillies can kick back over the holidays and not have to worry about who their shortstop is going to be or how they were going to replace his offense. MLB.com recently asked a few Phils folks about their favorite holiday memories.

Mets ornament of the day: David Wright, who is NOT going to the Phillies

Some silly Phillies fans are spreading ugly Twitter rumors that the Mets are going to trade David Wright to their goofy little team.Silly Phillies fans. The team would have to throw in Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, that bell they broke and a Pat's King of Steaks stand to go alongside the Shake Shack for us to even begin the conversation. For one thing, nothing good comes of a trade...
