I will be the first to admit I didn't think they would be able to do it. I really wasn't rooting for anyone. The Rays were a great story and it would have been nice to see a team go from worst to first. On the other hand I wanted to see some players like Lidge, Jenkins, Utley...etc. take that trophy home to Philadelphia. I just thought the starting pitching outside of Hamels would be the Phillies down fall. I was quite impressed with the way all the starters came out like there was nothing to this game. Even Myers pitched well in the one loss. I feared Moyer would struggle after his performance against the Dodgers but he was calm and steady like a veteran should be.
I believe that a team who has to fight their way into the playoffs has a better chance than a team who coast through. That theory was proven again this year by your Phightin Phils. The Cubs and Angels coasted to the playoffs and got knocked out right away while the Phillies who I believe had the toughest struggle to make it won it all. My hats off to the Philadelphia Phillies and all those fans who supported them through their struggles. Congratulations, your city and your fans deserve this!!!
