Andy Martino of the Ny Daily News reports with Spring training is three weeks away, the Mets off-season work might not be complete.
According to two team insiders, the club is looking for a veteran left-handed bat for the bench, and is shopping in the aisle that includes Rick Ankiel, Kosuke Fukudome, Raul Ibanez and Johnny Damon.

Yes I know we can say “what if” about everything in life but this one could have been feasible with the new playoff system which may go into place this year.
By adding another team to the playoffs, the Mets would have been in the playoffs 1984-1990, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
