Found May 27, 2013 on MLB Injury News:
What the Chicago Cubs suspected has now become official. Relief pitcher Kyuji Fujikawa has returned to the disabled list for the same reason he went on it earlier in the season -- a strained right forearm.'s Cubs beat writer Carrie Muskat reported the news just before the Cubs played their cross-town rival Chicago White Sox on May 27. She also tweeted the news to her followers: Fujikawa to DL. Will have MRI on Tue. #Cubs — Carrie Muskat (@CarrieMuskat) May 27, 2013 Fujikawa left Sunday's game with the Cincinnati Reds after walking Joey Votto in the ninth inning. He will have an MRI on Tuesday, May 28, to determine the extent of the new strain. He was disabled from April 13 to May 10 for the same reason. In his return, he pitched far better than before his initial injury. Fujikawa allowed only one run in 7.2 innings since his return. He had become the primary setup man for new Cubs closer Kevin Gregg. To replace Fujikawa on the roster, the Cubs claimed reliever Alex Burnett off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles. Burnett appeared in only two games for Baltimore and allowed three runs in 1.1 innings. For his career, he is 8-11 with a 4.73 ERA since 2010, mostly with the Minnesota Twins. Cubs’ Kyuji Fujikawa leaves Sunday’s game after seeing trainer

Chicago Cubs’ reliever Kyuji Fujikawa left his team’s May 26 game against the Cincinnati Reds in the ninth inning after a visit from the team trainer. While the reason is uncertain at this time,’s Cubs beat writer Carrie Muskat tweeted that Fujikawa believes that the problem is similar to the strained right forearm that put him on the disabled list on April 13...

Cubs Mock-Up Giant Right Field Ad (PHOTOS)

Cranes fill the streets around the Wrigley Field Bleachers this morning as the Cubs mock-up their proposed advertisements. They started in right field with an ad for "FFFFFFFFFFFF" (surely Budweiser in the future) and boy, it is large.  The purpose of the mock-up is to show the City and the rooftop owners how these signs will impact the views in and plenty of folks are...

Is it worth it for teams to pursue Alfonso Soriano?

When Alfonso Soriano signed his 8 year, $136 million deal with the Cubs, even the Cubs expected Soriano not to be at his best in the last couple seasons of the contract. Maybe the Cubs expected to be a little more competitive in the first couple years of the deal. Soriano still has another season at $18 million in his deal with the Cubs. With the Cubs not going anywhere, shouldn’t...

Cubs rumors: Sell-off more likely than not

The Chicago Cubs moved into sole possession of fourth place in the National League Central with yesterday's win. It marks their second victory in a row, but barring a much more extensive run the team is more likely than not to sell off their veteran players this summer, according to Jesse Rogers of ESPN Chicago. Last season, Chicago traded away veterans Ryan Dempster, Paul...

Kyuji Fujikawa needs Tommy John surgery

Kyuji Fujikawa was signed to be Carlos Marmol's eventual replacement as Cubs closer. Now, just 12 innings into his stateside career, the right-hander needs Tommy John surgery. Fujikawa left his May 26 outing against the Reds with what the Cubs were hoping was a forearm strain -- the same injury that cost him a month on the DL earlier this season. Fujikawa told reporters...

Cubs May Minor 28 League Recap

Javier Baez hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 11th to give Daytona a 7-5 win over the Tampa Yankees. LHP Chris Rusin (Iowa) and RHP Kyle Hendricks (Tennessee) both made quality starts to help their teams to victories. Kane County fell to the Quad Cities in a rain shorted game. Plenty of roster activity.

Cubs 5, Reds 4(10)

Alfonso Soriano hit a tying two-run homer in the eighth inning and Welington Castillo had a go-ahead double in the 10th, helping the Chicago Cubs rally from a four-run deficit in a 5-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday that stopped a season-high, six-game losing streak. Soriano singled in the seventh and scored Chicago's first run off Johnny Cueto on Luis Valbuena's...

Jumbotron Mocked-Up at Wrigley Field (PHOTOS)

With all the bigwigs looking down from the rooftops (Owner - Tom Ricketts, President of Business Operation - Crane Kenny and (strangely) former head of marketing - Wally Hayward), the Cubs mocked up the proposed Jumbotron at Wrigley Field.  It's difficult to get a true handle on exactly how big this thing will be (they only had tarps hanging on opposite ends of a pole) but...

Steel Cage Deathmatch: Garza vs. Cueto!

The Cubs happened to win today’s game, despite a short outing by Matt Garza, and snap a long losing skid.  There was a small incident within the game that should’ve remained insignificant but didn’t for whatever reason.  In the sixth inning, Johnny Cueto, who was cruising along to that point, threw a pitch over David DeJesus‘ head.  Cueto had been agitated since the beginning...

Rice Cube’s Five Stages of Grief Because All Our **** Keeps Breaking

Let’s get it out of the way.  Kyuji Fujikawa is broken and needs to be fixed:   Cubs announce Fujikawa will need Tommy John surgery. — Patrick Mooney (@CSNMooney) May 29, 2013   Hoyer on Fujikawa: “It is unfortunate but it is the nature of pitching. We’re hopeful he’ll come back.” — Patrick Mooney (@CSNMooney) May 29, 2013   We’ll build him bigger, better, stronger…maybe...

Kyuji Fujikawa Needs Tommy John Surgery, Out For Year

This isn’t the most exciting news…unless you’re Kevin Gregg.  In that case, prepare to have some statistics to back up your quest to receive a new contract next year because Kyuji Fujikawa is now out for the season.  Kevin Gregg, you may now scream “Huzzah!”  Brought in by Boy Genius Jed Hoyer to be a cheap and effective replacement for the carnival show that is Carlos...

White Sox-Cubs Preview

The Chicago Cubs hope a rainy night didn't dampen their momentum. The Cubs, who have long struggled against the Chicago White Sox, will go for their second straight win over their crosstown rivals and third consecutive victory overall on Wednesday afternoon. The Cubs (20-30), leading 2-0 in the third inning of Tuesday's contest, appeared poised to secure at least a tie...

The Games That Were: Cubs vs. Reds

Ivy is out and about, so I’m going to help out with this series recap.  Hopefully this won’t suck.  The Reds, as of today, are 7th in the majors in scoring at 4.82 runs per game and 4th in the majors at preventing runs, limiting their opponents to 3.58 runs per game.  It’s not surprising that they are once again challenging the Cardinals for the National League Central lead...
