The Chicago Cubs have placed second baseman Darwin Barney on
the disabled list due to the gash on his leg, according to Paul Sullivan of The
Gonzalez up as Barney goes on DL. Barney says he stopped feeling so bad for his leg injury when he saw L'ville's Ware's knee injury.

Barney cut his knee while sliding in foul territory
attempting to chase down a fly ball during a spring training contest. It
required stitches, but the Cubs only initially ruled him out for Opening Day.
However, Barney’s injury is significant enough that it will
require at least two weeks on the DL. While he’s out, the Cubs are expected to
use Brent Lillibridge at second base.
Barney hit .254/.299/.354 with 26 doubles, four triples and
seven home runs with six stolen bases in seven attempts last season. While his
offensive totals weren’t extremely impressive, Barney’s defense earned him a
Gold Glove Award.
