Found May 31, 2013 on MLB Injury News:
Even though they've now won four games in a row to climb out of the National League Central's basement, the Chicago Cubs are still expected to become sellers at this summer's trade deadline. Right-handed starting pitcher Scott Feldman has been solid in his first season with the Cubs, and Bruce Levine of ESPN Chicago expects him to be among the top trade targets leading up to July 31. The Cubs signed Feldman to a one-year, $6 million contract -- that includes $1 million in incentives -- this offseason, providing the 30-year-old the opportunity to start. He'd spent the past eight seasons with the Texas Rangers, moving between the bullpen and rotation. In his first year with Chicago, Feldman has flourished, posting an ERA and WHIP of 2.82 and 1.170. He's 5-1 with a 2.31 ERA over his last seven starts, while he's maintained a mark of 1.33 when he's started at home. While Feldman appreciates the opportunity provided by the Cubs and Chicago is certainly happy with his production, he is a prime candidate to be dealt this summer. You can expect similar treatment to what happened with Paul Maholm and Ryan Dempster last season, as the Cubs will attempt to get a top young player in exchange for Feldman if he's able to maintain his level of production over the next two months. Starlin Castro isn’t any better than his rookie season

I haven't posted anything in a couple weeks. Thanks to everyone else for taking over. I've mentioned it before, but I've had neck problems for 6+ months now. They've continued and I've been unable to do much of anything. Unfortunately, it's only slightly better right now because of medication and I won't be around that much over the next few months. Hopefully...

Daily Facepalm 5.30.13 : It’s Dioner Navarro’s World, We’re Just Living In It

"The Dioner Navarro Game?" Navarro demolished White Sox pitching to the tune of 3 HR and 6 RBI yesterday. In his only PA in which he didn't hit the ball into the stands, he drew a walk and later came aroudn to score with the help of a Matt Lindstrom wild pitch and a single by pinch hitter Ryan Sweeney. Navarro raised his season wOBA from .271 to .365 in a single game...

Luis Valbuena’s 2013 season

With all the doom and gloom surrounding this year's offense and the intense focus on Castro and Rizzo, Luis Valbuena's fantastic season seems to have fallen through the cracks. Valbuena currently has a line of .248/.361/.421* on the year, good for a .339 wOBA and about 1 WAR through two months of the season. What the hell? *Today's game, in which Valbuena homered, will...

JOT: Cubs Minor League Recap 5-30-13

Iowa Cubs 3 @ Nashville Sounds 4 Of course, the I-Cubs would lose to the Astros of AAA. No one really had a great day. I can tell you who had a bad day: Brett Jackson. He was 0-3 with a walk and 3 strikeouts. Dave Sappelt had a double and a walk, and that was the best day from any Cub. Logan Watkins was 1-5, and Ian Stewart took advantage of his start with a 0-4, 3 SO performance...

Because it’s all Carlos Marmol’s fault!

Tonight’s (well, yesterday’s, now) game was pretty terrible.  The Cubs did not win.  They were going to win at one point, but then weird stuff happened and somehow Carlos Marmol got most of the blame.  Of course, that is fair given the win expectancy chart.  Marmol’s wildness and giving up that monstrous grand slam to Paul Goldschmidt (who is very very strong and was pretty...

The Wood That Makes It Good

If you have Travis Wood on your fantasy team, you are a lucky duck.  For real! Travis Wood has been the bargain of bargains at the fantasy starting pitcher slot this season. Even I, a man with a certain fondness for Wood and fantasy crush on the entire Cubs rotation, could not, would not, have predicted the start that Travis Wood is having. The thing now, from the fantasy...

Goldschmidt grand slam leads Diamondbacks in big win over Cubs

It’s not often the Diamondbacks score 12 runs (actually never, so far in 2013) but Arizona did just that in a 12-4 victory over the Cubs Saturday night. Paul Goldschmidt led the charge, hitting an absolute bomb for his first career regular season grand slam.

Wood gets it done with arm and bat

After three miserable games against their crosstown rivals, there wasn't much left for the White Sox to say. ''We just got beat in all facets of the game,'' White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko said. ''They were just the better team in every area.'' Cubs pitcher Travis Wood hit a grand slam off Jake Peavy and the White Sox lost 8-3 on Thursday...

Miley hit hard as D-backs drop second straight

CHICAGO (AP) -- Scott Hairston hit a grand slam and Matt Garza got his first victory of the season as the Cubs extended their winning streak to five games by defeating the Diamondbacks 7-2 on Friday. Alfonso Soriano had a two-run homer and Cody Ransom added a solo shot for the Cubs, who have won five straight for the first time since winning seven in a row from July 31-Aug. 6, 2011...

Cubs recaps: The battle for a useless trophy

Foreward: I hate Cubs v. White Sox. I grew up on the southwest side of the city as a White Sox fan before converting after a baseball hiatus in 1998. Since interleague play began this series has been a lightning rod for stupid. Nothing brings out the absolute worst in Chicago fans quite like Cubs v. White Sox, and that stupidity was on full display this year.  The Cubs came limping...

April slumps and May not-so-slumps

Today is officially June, which means we can now look back at all of April and May because everyone loves arbitrary endpoints.  As of May 31, the 2013 Cubs have scored 221 runs while giving up only 210.  They should be better than their 23-30 record suggests, but baseball happens. The Cubs had an offensive turnaround between April and May.  In April, they were only 10-16 with...

Guillen on Wrigley Facelift: "It's About Time"

As the public battle as to whether or not Wrigley Field should undergo a facelift continues...the Chicago Cubs have an unlikely supporter backing them up. Former Chicago White Sox skipper Ozzie Guillen. "It's about time," the outspoken Guillen said. "Finally they start doing the right thing. It's 2013. I think the new owners and the new GM and the new...

Series Preview: Arizona Diamondbacks (30-23) at Chicago Cubs (22-30)

The Arizona Diamondbacks will close out a solid month of May by heading to the Windy City to face the Cubs.

Diamondbacks-Cubs Preview

Alfonso Soriano has consistently hit well against the Arizona Diamondbacks during his career. The Chicago Cubs hope that trend continues Friday as they try to win five in a row for the first time in nearly two years in the opener of a three-game series at Wrigley Field. After a season-high six-game skid, the Cubs (22-30) have outscored opponents 29-10 during the winning streak...
