Found January 11, 2012 on Fox Sports:
The Cubs and free-agent reliever Kerry Wood are re-engaged in negotiations, and major-league sources say the sides are nearing a one-year deal with an option for 2013. Wood, 34, resides in Chicago and has previously indicated that he would prefer to remain with the Cubs -- where he has spent 11 of his 13 big-league seasons. It appears that he will get his wish, even though the Cubs are entering a true rebuild for the first time in years. Wood went 3-5 with a 3.35 ERA in 51 innings for the Cubs last season. The Phillies had shown recent interest in Wood, sources say, and are expected to add a veteran reliever before Opening Day.

Why Kerry Wood Should Not Return to the Chicago Cubs

Though it pains me to say, the Cubs should let Kerry Wood go this year and throw him a goodbye party on his way out of town.  Wood lovesChicagoand we love him but this relationship has finally reached a point where the Cubs no longer need him.  Sure the bullpen will be in tatters this year with all the young faces around but that is no reason to bring him back and make him suffer...

Detroit Tigers Looking to Sign Kerry Wood to Bolster Bullpen

The Detroit Tigers entered the 2011 MLB season with one glaring weakness, and manager Jim Leyland told anyone who asked that he was scared to death of his bullpen. While he had the utmost of confidence in closer Jose Valverde, Leyland knew that bridging the gap to get to Valverde in the ninth inning would be difficult at times. Needless to say, Leyland would prefer to not have to...
