Yet another quiet day here in sunny San Diego. I am just holding out to get to January where I think the Padres will be making a few moves to help solidify a roster by the time spring training comes along. Historically the Padres have done a lot of moves in January and even into February, so it will be interesting to see how things play out. Last year was a bit different as trades were happening in December and I think that is where a lot of people are disgruntled right now. Last offseason was very very busy and this offseason is just sluggish. I’m sure things will change eventually, but I know it’s rough. Today for instance I was debating to post anything because there isn’t anything to post. Half my piece today is stuff from MLB.com. So there you have it, let’s get to them:

Yasmani Grandal's 50-game suspension for violating Major League Baseball's drug policy has given Nick Hundley the opportunity to relaunch his catching career. Hundley was hitting .166 last June 29 when he was optioned...

There is a large looming question when it comes to the offseason: What do you write about when there is nothing to write about? Most teams don’t have this problem as there is always something going on to make news. In the case of the Padres, there isn’t a whole lot going on. Luckily, all I have been tasked to do is find articles and give them to you all. However, if I just put...
Fred McGriff played 19 major league seasons with the Blue Jays, Padres, Braves, Devil Rays, Cubs and Dodgers. He is one of 37 players on the 2013 Baseball Writers’ Association of America (BBWAA) ballot for the Class of 2013 at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. He returns to the ballot for the fourth time after receiving 23.9 percent of the vote in 2012.
I am going to take a thought and try and drive down a road and see where it leads, follow along won’t you? Baseball is all about windows. Players have a window of opportunity most of the time, and stats are looked at through a certain window. Think about it, during the regular season you will always here about a player hitting at a certain average during a certain span. It’s...
