I went to the game yesterday for the first time since Opening Day. All in all it wasn’t a bad game for the first part of it. Jedd Gyorko crushed a home run, which will hopefully get him started, and Eric Stults pitched a decent game. However, the Orioles are a tough team with a great lineup and we saw that yesterday as JJ Hardy and Chris Davis both hit homers to give the Orioles the win with the help of a bullpen collapse. POLL: The Padres over the Remaining Fifty Games

When yesterday’s game against the Orioles began the Padres had a very nice, clean, and even 50 games remaining on their schedule. Such symmetry, coupled with the simultaneous loss of shortstop and lead-off man Everth Cabrera, prompted me to ask the following question: There are 50 games left in the @Padres' season. I say 18-32. What say you? — Avenging Jack Murphy (@AvengingJM...

Daily Farm Round-Up: 8-6-13

Max Fried had a great start as the TinCaps won 3-1. Led by Jeremy Baltz and Travis Jankowski, the Storm had an offensive explosion and blew out the Quakes 13-5. The Missions won 4-2 due to a good start from Donn Roach and 3 RBI from Rocky Gale. While You Were Dreaming: Game 114 (Padres vs Phillies)

The last time August 8th fell on a Thursday was 2002.  Had Padres Public existed back then, here’s how the game summary might have read. The Padres concluded this six-game home stand on a high note.  It didn’t start out looking like they would. Brian Lawrence started and made it into the sixth, however thanks to Rickey Ledee’s big day at the plate (double and triple) he departed...

Daily Farm Round-Up: 8-7-13

It was a quiet day offensively; the AZL Padres scored the most runs with 4. Jace Peterson, however, still had a productive night with a home run and 2 RBI. The Missions and the AZL Padres were the only teams to collect a victory. Both their starters performed very well. Hitting Prospect of the Day: Jace Peterson Pitching Prospect of the Day: Eddie Bonine   Tucson Padres: DNP ...

Padres' Cory Luebke throws first bullpen since May 2012

San Diego Padres left-handed starting pitcher Cory Luebke underwent reconstructive elbow surgery in May of 2012. He's been rehabbing since then, but he's progressed to the point where, on Tuesday, he threw his first bullpen session since going under the knife, according to Jamal Collier of MLB.com. It was a light session for Luebke, who threw 25 pitches as he was watched...

San Diego Padres sign Can-Am League's batting leader

The Can-Am League announced that Bridger Hunt, the league's leading hitter, has signed a minor league deal with the San Diego Padres. This will be Hunt's second time in affiliated ball. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 9th round of the 2006 MLB June Amateur Draft from University of Central Missouri. Hunt spent five years in the Dodger's organization...

While You Were Drinking: Game 114 (SD vs BAL)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a night in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking. The Padres lost to the Orioles 10-3 yesterday, losing both games of the short 2-game series. Eric Stults pitched alright, allowing only 3 runs in 7 innings. Jedd Gyorko got the Padres back into the game with a 3-run home run to tie it up...

Chris Davis' 41st homer sparks Orioles to a 10-3 win over San Diego Padres

When Chris Davis stepped to the plate in the eighth inning of a tie game against the San Diego Padres on Wednesday afternoon he had already stranded four baserunners including three in scoring position. But in his fourth at-bat Davis wasted little time blasting left-handed reliever Colt Hynes’ first pitch deep into the right-center field seats at Petco Park and sending the Orioles...

Indoctrination 101: How Will I Know?

There are certain areas of life where beliefs must be arrived upon using one’s own freewill. Padres baseball is not one of those areas. Summer months move along with a particular cadence in my home.  Children’s activities separate each passing hour of the day, establishing a familiar rhythm, until we sit down for dinner and then prepare to watch the beginning of the Padres games...

Daily Friar 8.9.13

The Padres had a much needed day off yesterday after being swept in the two game series by the Orioles. Overall they went 4-4 on the home stand against the Reds, Yankees and Os. Now they are set to start a stretch of thirteen games that starts with a road trip to Cincinnati and Denver before coming back home to face the Mets and Pirates. I hate to say it Padres fans, but this could...

This is going viral

No, I’m not talking about the Ghost of Ray Kroc’s twitter timeline where he tweets that phrase once every 15.2 seconds, I am talking about the video below involving XTRA Sports 1360 “The World of Sports” co-host and Channel 10 sports director, Ben Higgins! Thankfully Ben survived that ordeal. But did he survive Padres and Pints? We had a blast with Ben at Iron Fist Brewing...

Ike Davis slowly, but surely, awakening from his slumber

While the New York Mets’ 5-0 win over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night was all about the glorious performance of Matt Harvey and the contributions from Wilmer Flores (in his second game of action); underneath it all was another solid outing from the very embattled Ike Davis. Say what you will about Davis’ colossal slump to open the season—which stretched more than three...

Orioles 5, Giants 2(10)

When Chris Davis is in the on-deck circle, it's not often he's watching a teammate walked intentionally. It was no bother either way. He was just as ready to hit. Davis hit a two-out, two-run double in the 10th inning and the Baltimore Orioles beat the San Francisco Giants 5-2 Friday night. ''I'm just looking for a pitch over the plate,'' Davis said...
