Found February 01, 2012 on Mets Merized Online: Yardbarker Blogger Network
Last night at the 32nd Annual Thurman Munson Awards Dinner in New York, Daniel Murphy told reporters that expectations for the Mets this season are to make the playoffs. “Expectations for us this year are like any other. We expect to go to the playoffs.” His thoughts on Terry Collins seeing him batting in the leadoff spot: “I am gonna hit wherever he tells me, I am gonna hit wherever he sees best fit. If I am hitting No. 1 that means I am in the lineup. That’s a good sign for me.” Murphy reserved his best comment on him raking in 2012 and busting out with Ike Davis: “I sent Ike Davis a text. I told him I was putting in a request with TC to hit somewhere near him to get some good pitches. That guy is a killer and I want to be near him,” Murphy said. “He kind of laughed and texted back: ‘Let’s go dominate.’ I think we’re ready and excited for the season.” This guy is sumthin else and I’m glad he’s on our side… I’m with 28 too…

Can Mike Pelfrey Bounce Back in 2012?

I was reading this great article by CBS Sports’ Rich Countinho asking if Mike Pelfrey can bounce back for the Mets this season. Countinho stated that in order for Pelfrey to bounce back for the Mets this year, he needs to go back to his “old” roots. I agree with Rich because the old way of pitching for Mike Pelfrey was what gave him the confidence to go out and...

According to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times, billionaire investment manager Steve Cohen, who  is set to become one of the $20 million minority investors in the New York Mets. Daniel Murphy: Spark plug

Well it’s suddenly February and that big football game is only a few days away. And you know what my favorite part of the Super Bowl is? No, the thought of seeing Tom Brady miserable, or seeing what kind of weird/creepy/funny commercial ETrade has in store for us. No, it’s more of the fact that as soon as the game is over, it’s baseball time. Pitchers and catchers are due...

Mets To Sell 10 Shares Of Team

According to Steven Marcus of Newsday, the Mets expect to complete the sale of ten minority shares of the team at $20 million each by the end of February. It previously was believed that the Mets would close on a minimum of four units by the end of January. No reason was given for the new timetable or whether the closings would take place at the same time. None of the potential...

Mets Card of the Week: 1987 Bob Ojeda

1987 SPORTFLICS BOB OJEDA These first-wave Sportflics cards deserve a cult of their own. Now, the less said about the mid ’90′s Second Coming of the brand, the better. Those sets were more Stone Roses Second Coming than the Jesus kind… But these mid ’80s cards were out there kicking against the pricks. The hobby back then was a stodgy place, and the cigar...

LHBs with connection to the front office

I know for some this is a repetitive topic, but let's face there is absolutely nothing to talk about in regard to the Mets. It's amazing how little they done and how long it's been, the last signing was Ronny Cedano on January 12th. They haven't even signed anyone to a minor league deal with an invitee to camp, Tuiasosopo will go straight to minor league camp....

It’s Gonne Be A Banner Day On May 27

One of the mainstays of a Mets’ summer will be returning this year, the 50th anniversary of the franchise.
