Davey Lopes is now a free agent, and Ken Gurnick says the Dodgers are keen on competing for his services.
Four-time All-Star Davey Lopes became a prime candidate for the Dodgers' vacant first-base coaching job after resigning the same position with the Phillies on Monday.
Normally with such little information, you could probably dismiss it as a rumor, but given that it's from the official site, I assume there's credibility to the interest.

I would love this move, as I think Davey Lopes has been a huge reason for the Phillies base stealing success. Bill Baer of Crashburn Alley summarizes what I mean in this article.

The Dodgers also made a move to pick up the option on Scott Podsednik, but the player still has the right to void the option because he met the plate appearance requirements to make it mutual. As such, I find it hard to believe he would accept a 2 million dollar salary in 2011, but as much as I despised that trade, 2 million is a small price to pay for him, even if it's just a utility role.

Additionally, here's Jon Weisman with his take on the Don Mattingly situation.
It's happened before, and it's happened again. Save the grievances about Mattingly for when they actually matter...
Yeah, exactly. I'm quite sure there will be no dearth of opportunities to poke fun at him throughout the season.

In ugh-this-is-a-joke-right news, the Dodgers are suing a Brooklyn burger joint for trademark infringement. Stay classy.
