Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher David Price is probably nearing the end of his tenure with the Rays. Price has two seasons of arbitration eligibility remaining after 2013, and will be in line for eight figure salaries after signing a $10.1 million contract for 2013. After the contracts recently signed by Felix Hernandez, Zack Greinke, Cole Hamels, and Matt Cain, Price figures to get paid a lot in the free agent market. However, one team that may not be on Price's radar during his impending free agency is one that is invariably linked to every high-priced free agent on the market: the New York Yankees. During an interview with Jon Paul Morosi of Fox Sports, Morosi casually mentioned that Price would need to shave his beard if he became a Yankee. Price's response was damning towards the Bronx Bombers. “I wouldn’t stay there very long then,” he responded. “I wouldn’t sign a long-term deal there. Those rules, that’s old-school baseball. I was born in ’85. That’s not for me. That’s not something I want to be a part of.” Good for Price for taking a bit of a stand for something, but let's be honest: if he was offered a $200 million contract by the Yankees, his response to them asking him to shave his beard would probably be "electric or disposable razor?" It would be great if Price didn't end up in New York just because of his opposition to their facial hair policy, but Johnny Damon, Jason Giambi, and Kevin Youkilis all eventually crumbled once they signed with the Yankees, and Price would probably end up falling right in line too.
