The epic battle between C.J. Wilson and Yu Darvish was short-lived. And the face-off between C.J. and Mike Napoli never happened. Silly, Mother Nature. Why must you get in the way of baseball?
The Rangers and Angels hadn’t even finished the 1st inning when the rain came pouring down. In sheets. Wilson was probably relieved. He had the bases loaded and just one out with Nelson Cruz coming up to bat. And since the delay lasted two hours, Wilson’s night was over. His ERA took a hit though, and he remained on the hook for the loss since the Rangers had already plated two. Rumor has it that Wilson left the ballpark as the Rangers were pouring on the runs after the delay. Now that’s a team player for ya. Maybe the Angels told him to go back to the hotel because he’s going to pitch another game this series. Maybe Sunday? But if not … that’s pretty lame.
A two-hour rain delay didn’t seem to phase Rangers offense. They picked right up as soon as play resumed, scoring four more run
