The Washington Nationals offense is at full strength, meaning they have all their players in the right positions in the lineup spots that they want them at.
This wasn’t always the case.
The Nats have dealt with injuries to Ryan Zimmerman (broken thumb), Bryce Harper (Torn ligament in left thumb), Adam LaRoche (Quad) and a minor DL stint by Wilson Ramos (right hamstring).
There have been two guys on offense that have been productive for them all season– shortstop Ian Desmond and second baseman/third baseman Anthony Rendon. They are the primary reason that the Nats dealt with all those injuries and were still able to stay afloat in the NL East.
They were able to keep close to the Atlanta Braves, and they are currently in first place — yes, they only have a slim one-game lead, but this will be a race for the rest of the summer and a one-game lead is better than a one-game deficit.
