R.A. Dickey cooked up a gem as the the knuckleballer ended the Mets’ three-game skid, and nine-game home losing streak, with a complete game, 10-strikeout performance at Citi Field this afternoon.
Clayton’s recap will be up in this post as soon as he sends it in to me.
In the meantime, I have some thoughts…
Thoughts from Joe D.
I’m not gonna tell you the team showed some spark and came to life, it’s a win. It was widely expected that the Mets wouldn’t lose every game from this point on. I cant ignore the fact they are 1-9 in their last ten games at Citi or that this is their first home win since before the all star break.
That said, there were some positives to take away and the biggest one was Ruben Tejada who had another two hits to raise his average to .323 and extend his hitting streak to 14 games.
Another positive to take away is the brilliant performance by R.A. Dickey Dickey who is on track to become the Mets’ first 20-game winner since Frank Viola in 1990. You can’t say eno...

The NL Complete Game King In Command During 6-1 Rout of Marlins
With the 2012 season spiraling out of hand, today was exactly what the doctor ordered.
The Mets went out there and their signature knuckleballer R.A. Dickey went out there and dealt a gigantic dose of 2012 first-half Dickey, defending his All-Star status.
On top of that, the lineup did a sufficient job of getting to Marlins ace Josh Johnson, showing some signs of life on offense...
Dickey wins 15th, Mets top Marlins
R.A. Dickey pitched a complete game for his NL-leading 15th win, stopping Jose Reyes' 26-game hitting streak and helping the New York Mets end their nine-game home losing skid with a 6-1 win Thursday over the Miami Marlins.
Dickey (15-3) gave up five hits, struck out 10 and walked none.
Reyes went 0 for 4 against the All-Star knuckleballer, twice stranding runners on third...
Fading Mets Look to Hang On vs. Braves
By SBRForum.com
If RA Dickey could throw every game, and in actuality he might be able to, the New York Mets might have a chance to crawl back into the National League playoff situation. But of course that first proposition won’t happen, so neither, it appears, will the second.
After Dickey helped the Mets stave off a sweep by the Miami Marlins Thursday, New York now looks to keep...

The Fix Is In?
Remember all the Hater-Ade that gushed out of Mets Nation when Jose Reyes took himself out of his last game of the 2011 season following a bunt single, so that he could preserve his lead in the batting race and win a batting title?
Some Mets fans were so turned off and fuming, that they decided to completely forget the other 1,049 games Jose Reyes played as a Met all...

Dickey's gem halts Mets' 9-game home skid, Reyes' hit streak
NEW YORK -- The mystifying pitch R.A. Dickey throws like no one else when he is on was fluttering and darting enough Thursday to end one impressive streak by an ex-teammate and halt a demoralizing one for his current teammates. It also has placed the pitcher who likes to stay "in the moment" in a place where his future could include a National League Cy Young award. ...
Dickey, Torres stops the Bleeding against Miami in Early Matinee
In a day in which the Mets desperately needed a home win, or any win, NL Cy Young candidate R.A Dickey was the best choice to stop a losing skid as he took the mound early Thursday afternoon. With only one home win dating back to early July, Dickey was on cue early as the Mets tried to avoid the sweep by the hands of the Miami Marlins.
Starter Josh Johnson took the mound for the...

Dugout Digest - the favorite re-emerges
You know, I was planning on writing an article about the NL Cy Young award race yesterday. I decided to put it off until today since RA Dickey, one of the first half favorites, was starting yesterday afternoon against the Marlins. Since the break, Dickey has been good...but not really "transcendent" like he was in the first half. Well, yesterday...he was transcedent...
A Letter to the NY Mets Faithful From a Die-Hard Mets Fan
For the past 5 years, the New York Mets have seemed to keep the fan base motivated half way through a season until they somehow forgot how to play the game of baseball. I love the Mets (who doesn’t) but it does take a toll on me and I bet any other fan out there. The Metropolitans are not the worst team in their division (thanks in part to great play from R.A. Dickey and David...
Mets 2012 Season Will Be A Near Total Loss
Its hard to fathom now, but the Mets had a realistic shot at the playoffs only one month ago. Since then the team has taken a turn for the worst with a lot of poorly played baseball compounded by additional injuries. In the process, the current situation has re-highlighted some glaring issues that the team’s successful first half had given us the luxury of forgetting about...
