The Los Angeles Dodgers have activated star outfielders Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier from the disabled list Friday, and they have optioned outfielders Elian Herrera and Scott Van Slyke to Triple-A Albuquerque. Kemp, hitting .355 with 12 home runs and 28 RBIs, missed 51 of the Dodgers' previous 53 games because of a left hamstring strain. They were 24-27 in his absence. Kemp appeared in six rehab games with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga and Albuquerque, then participated in the Home Run Derby on Monday. But he sat out the All-Star game after being voted as one of the starting outfielders. Ethier batting .291 with 10 homers and a team-high 55 RBIs, had been sidelined since June 28 because of an oblique strain on his left side. He had a two-game rehab stint with Rancho Cucamonga. Herrera, who has started at five different positions with the Dodgers, was batting .243 with a homer and 16 RBI in 51 games. Van Slyke was hitting .167 with two home runs and seven RBI in 27 games with Los An...

Ethier says he's ready to return to Dodgers

It wasn't an 0-2 performance by Andre Ethier Wednesday at Rancho Cucamonga's Epicenter that was the biggest Dodger news of the day. It was his pre-game assertion that he felt he could have rejoined his Los Angeles teammates prior to the All-Star Break after a left oblique injury suffered in the first inning of a 3-0 loss to San Francisco on June 27 kept him sidelined for...

Dodgers to start 2nd half with Kemp, Ethier back

Matt Kemp is on his way back to the starting lineup, and his presence couldn't come at the better time for the Los Angeles Dodgers. They open the second half of the season on Friday at home against San Diego clinging to a half-game lead over San Francisco in the NL West. The Dodgers stumbled into the All-Star break losing 15 of 20 games, including three in a row, with Kemp and...

Mark Ellis steals show from Kemp, Ethier

LOS ANGELES -- It was supposed to be a celebratory evening at Dodger Stadium for the big boppers coming off the disabled list and the Dodgers ready to re-crank the offense that led them to one of baseball's best record prior to the injury plague. Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier were making their comebacks from injuries that saw them miss a total of 62 games; 51 by Kemp with a pulled...

Andre Ethier set to return to Dodgers

Andre Ethier will rejoin the Dodgers today after spending two weeks on the DL with a strained left oblique muscle. The two-time All-Star right fielder completed his rehab stint with an 0-2 outing at Single A Rancho Cucamonga. Ethier told reporters after the game: ”I felt good. I went up there and actually got some opportunities to see some pitches off a righty tonight. As each...

The Los Angeles Dodgers returned 2/3 of their Opening Day lineup on Friday, activating Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier from the 15-day disabled list. Kemp, 27, got off to a sizzling start, batting .359 with 12 home runs through May 13. He then spent 15 days on the disabled list with a strained hamstring, then re-injured himself in his second game back May 30. Ethier, 29, had no issues...

Padres-Dodgers Preview

Despite playing without Matt Kemp for nearly two months and Andre Ethier for the last two weeks, the injury-plagued Los Angeles Dodgers made it through the All-Star break with the NL West lead. While their conclusion to the first half left much to be desired, the Dodgers have reason for optimism as their second half gets underway. Kemp and Ethier are both expected back Friday night...

Will Jacoby Ellsbury or Matt Kemp Have a Bigger Impact on His Team's Lineup After Returning From Injury?

Two of Major League Baseball's top outfielders returned to action Friday after lengthy breaks due to injury: the Red Sox' Jacoby Ellsbury and the Dodgers' Matt Kemp. Both players finished 2011 as MVP runner-up in their respective leagues. Ellsbury, who had not played since April 13 due to a shoulder injury, went 1-for-5 in the Red Sox' 3-1 win over the Rays. Kemp...

Time For Juan Uribe To Pack His Bags

The Dodgers are bringing in some much needed reinforcements tomorrow, two big reinforcements to be exact. Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp are expected to be activated tomorrow, with two activations that means two roster decisions will have to be made. Things are about to get really interesting. Two players will be leaving the 25-man roster, the obvious choice may not be so obvious...

The Future of The Dodgers Is Bright.

It's no secret I'm a huge Jerry Sands fan. I believe he'll be a nice part of the offense for a number of years, and hope he gets another extended look before the year is out. No, I don't believe he's the next Matt Kemp, but he's also no James Loney or Juan Rivera or Tony Gwynn Jr., i.e. he should be playing over them now and allowed to mature into the hitter...

Espy Awards fashion featuring Steve Nash, Anthony Davis, Matt Kemp, Jeremy Lin & more

Wednesday night in LA, one of my favorite Sports Entertainment fusions – well outside of Jocks & Stiletto Jill of course – took place. The ESPY awards went down at the Nokia Theater with alleged comedian Rob Riggle as the host. Oh that “alleged” was me being sarcastic. Riggle SUCKED as a host but I digress. Favorite [...]
