The Los Angeles Dodgers activated starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw from the bereavement list in time for the left hander to make his Friday start. The Dodgers also placed Ted Lilly on the disabled list with a rib cage injury.
Kershaw has a 1.73 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 47/12 K/BB ratio in 41 2/3 innings over his first six starts this season. He left the team on Monday but was never in danger of missing his scheduled Friday start.
The Dodgers placed Lilly on the disabled list after he had not shown enough improvement following a cortisone shot earlier this week. Lilly first began to feel discomfort in his right rib cage during his start on Monday. Lilly allowed four runs in three innings against Colorado in Monday’s loss.
Matt Magill will take Lilly’s turn in the rotation against the Giants. Magill went 6 2/3 innings in his only apperance of the season last Saturday against Milwaukee. In that outing Magill allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Many argue Sandy Koufax as one of the greatest pitchers of all-time. He dominated the National League as a member of the Brooklyn Dodgers. He baffled batters, especially the final five seasons of his career where his WHIP was below 1.00 a game. That’s insane for a starter, in any era. Oh, his final two seasons, he pitched in 335.2 and 320 innings. He didn’t show any signs of...
Jarret Martin had one of the best performances of his Dodger career on Wednesday night, but it wasn't enough to propel the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes to victory.
Martin's line was rather impressive: 6 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 8 K.
The Stockton Ports scored their only two runs of the night in the first inning, aided by a Darnell Sweeney error -- his 13th in 24 games. Addison...
Dodgers' left handed pitcher Ted Lilly was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a rib-cage muscle strain. The move was made to make room for Clayton Kershaw, who was on the bereavement list since Monday after the death of his father.
As reported by Ken Gurnick of MLB.com,
"Lilly, who started the season on the disabled list after shoulder surgery, made his...
When the Los Angeles Dodgers made the big August trade with the Boston Red Sox last season to acquire Josh Beckett, Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, and Nick Punto, there was major concern over one player. The concern was always over Crawford not Beckett.
Crawford, although currently nursing a hamstring, has produced quite nicely on the field. In the 25 games Crawford has been in...
The Los Angeles Dodgers put shortstop Hanley Ramirez on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained left hamstring.
The Dodgers made the move Saturday, a day after he hurt himself running the bases. Infielder Dee Gordon was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Ramirez was injured while trying to go from first base to third in the sixth inning of Friday night's 2-1 loss at...
Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez missed last
night’s contest against the San Francisco Giants due to a neck injury. He told
reporters – including Steve Dilbeck of The Los Angeles Times – that he hopes to
be back in the lineup today.
Gonzalez sustained his neck injury Wednesday when he
collided with an umpire while chasing a foul ball. The soreness...
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Los Angeles manager Don Mattingly doesn't expect injured shortstop Hanley Ramirez back from the disabled list any time soon.
Ramirez thinks his skipper is wrong and isn't certain he needed to go out.

This is a quick video I was able to shoot/edit of Angelo Songco ripping a double to the right-center field gap on Thursday against Stockton Ports' pitcher Jeremy Brown.
Songco is coming off a terrible season that was shortened by injury. He's not hitting particularly well so far this season (.267/.306/.396), but he does have a decent bat. He was fantastic in the California...
What will the Dodgers do with Yasiel Puig?
So all baseball fans were introduced to Yasiel Puig in Spring Training this year when he batted a modest .517! In 58 ab’s he scored 16 runs, had 30 hits, 3hr, 11rbi and 4sb. He slugged .828 with a total ops of 1.328! That led Spring for the NL with anyone who had at least 50 pa’s.
However you may remember the Dodgers making a huge...
Dee Gordon has begun taking ground balls at second base suggesting his future with the Dodgers will not be at shortstop. The Dodgers sent the 25-year-old Gordon to Triple-A Albuquerque to start the season.
Gordon has compiled a .302/.368/.417 line during his minor league stay and has stolen 12 bases.
The Dodges have Hanley Ramirez and Mark Ellis at shortstop and second base. Gordon...
Freak accidents happen. Just ask the Los Angeles Dodgers. (Credit)
Sometimes a cliche is just that - a simple saying that has become so overused that it no longer has any meaning outside of being a one-liner. No cliche in baseball gets more use than “you can never have too much pitching.” It seems like the phrase is used during every game, whether the man on the mound is performing...
I think this is a most appropriate post considering it's Free Comic Book Day. No, my modest Silver Age comic collection is not on display today. Instead, I'll feature this sweeeeeet 1/1 custom sketch card of one of the newest Dodgers. It's actually the second custom sketch card I've snagged off of eBay for a stellar and cheap price. This is the "blue 1/1,"...

The San Francisco Giants welcome the struggling Los Angeles Dodgers to AT&T Park to begin a three game series beginning tonight.
After a series sweep against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Giants are gaining momentum as the series begins with Barry Zito (3-1, 3.29 ERA) on the hill against the Dodger’s horse, Clayton Kershaw (3-2, 1.73 ERA).
Zito recorded a no decision on his...
