Tuesday night, we got another dose of stupid, dangerous behavior from grown men who should know better. In the top of the fifth inning, Zack Greinke hit Cody Ross, and things increasingly spun out of control from there. In the bottom of the sixth, recent call up and phenom Yasiel Puig was hit in the face by Ian Kennedy. I’m not sure if it was intentional, and since hitting someone in the head is dangerous and borderline criminal if done on purpose, I’m willing to give Kennedy a pass on this and say it was an accident. Zack Greinke, however, clearly felt it was intentional, as he plunked Miguel Montero in the top of the seventh. Benches cleared, some light shoving ensued, and things went back to normal. Almost. Who else would step to the plate in the bottom of the seventh but Greinke, and wouldn’t you know it, Ian Kennedy hit him. In the head. Maybe I shouldn’t have given him the benefit of the doubt after all. Again, benches cleared, and the scrum of players and coaches was a tad more violent than normal.
