The Dodgers have claimed outfield Matt Angle off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles. The Dodgers moved Rubby De La Rosa to the 60 day disabled list to make room for Angle. This creates another roster predicament for the four remaining Dodger players that are out of options. Scott Elbert, A.J. Ellis, Blake Hawksworth, and Ramon Troncoso. These four along with Angle will be interesting to watch this spring. Surprisingly I would not say Angle is the odd man out in this mix.
Angle, 26, has had very little major league in his baseball career. He spent most of the 2011 at AAA Norfolk as the starting center fielder, where he batted a .271/.347/.344 line in 489 plate appearances, that's led to a major league OPS of .559 in 95 plate appearances. While his bat is suspect, he has two phenomenal tools. Defensively he's well above average, he can handle all three outfield spots.
