Found July 18, 2012 on Dodgers Rumors:

Rumors are bursting out of the seams in Dodgertown today. Dylan Hernandez kicks off the rumor update with his latest tweet, Hernandez says that the Dodgers are out on Jimmy Rollins. This doesn't come as a surprise at all, as the rumor never made sense from the beginning. Jon Heyman adds that Alfonso Soriano is a no-go for the Dodgers. Hernandez also says, the Dodgers remain interested in Ryan Dempster and Matt Garza. Nothing really new here, as we have been hearing this for weeks.

Buster Olney and Bob Nightengale are both hearing the Dodgers remain the favorites to land Dempster. The Cubs are working hard to trade Dempster, which may happen by the end of the week. Ken Rosenthal recently heard that Dempster has the Dodgers as one of his two preferred landing spots to be traded to this summer.

The latest on the corner infield market doesn't bring a whole lot of good news. The Dodgers are having trouble in their talks to acquire Chase Headley from the Padres, tweets Dylan Hernandez. Apparently the asking price is excessive, perhaps indicating Headley won't be dealt this summer. The price could certainly drop over the next 13 days, but for now things don't look good.

Jon Heyman reported earlier today that the Philadelphia Phillies are preparing to offer impending free agent Cole Hamels a six-year $130MM deal. The Phillies are probably going to have to do better than that, because Hamels knows he can get a better deal on the open market. The Phillies are desperately trying to get Hamels under a multi-year extension before the trade deadline, but so far their efforts have come up short.

The current known list of Dodgers trade targets consists of Chase Headley, Aramis Ramirez, Cole Hamels, Bryan LaHair, Michael Cuddyer, Josh Willingham, Ryan Dempster, and Matt Garza. I broke each player down a bit more on my latest post over at Dodgers Nation.

Still no names on our mystery left-handed bullpen addition the Dodgers are desperately searching for. Will Ohman anyone? Why make a trade when you don't have to?

The Dodgers are out on Shane Victorino, Jimmy Rollins, Alfonso Soriano, and Justin Upton for now. I still think the Dodgers could turn back to the available outfielders if their attempts to acquire Headley or A-Ram don't pan out.

Despite the Dodgers struggling to get a deal done this summer, coupled with trade discussions going very slow, Dodgers chairman Mark Walter told Dylan Hernandez that the Dodgers won't pass up ways of improving their team this summer even if it means boosting payroll. "I'm not trying to save a dollar," Walter said. "I'd rather say we have a great team and maybe spend a little too much." That's a little different. What a sigh of relief. Great news for Dodger fans as the Dodgers front office approaches the deadline.

Kemp's walk-off HR just what Dodgers needed

LOS ANGELES With one ferocious swing, Matt Kemp erased all of the frustration that had built up in him since his amazing start this season was curtailed by a damaged hamstring. At least it looked that way. "Well, I'm not sure about that," said a smiling Kemp, whose two-run, 419 foot blast into the right field stands off Jonathan Papelbon gave the Dodgers a 5-3, 12...

Billingsley is cleared to resume throwing

Chad Billingsley was cleared to resume throwing Monday after a second MRI exam of the pitcher's right elbow showed the same inflammation discovered a day earlier. But it was unclear when Billingsley might make his next start. Billingsley was scratched from his scheduled start Sunday because of the soreness, with Chris Capuano taking his place. Nathan Eovaldi's next start...

Not understanding the Dodgers' reported interest in Jimmy Rollins

The Dodgers are reportedly interested in Jimmy Rollins, but I'm not exactly sure why. Sure, he'd be an upgrade over guys like Luis Cruz and Elian Herrera, but Rollins isn't exactly a great player anymore and will likely regress in after this season. Rollins signed a 3-year, $33 million contract this offseason and is owed roughly $5 to 6 million for the rest of...

Dodgers' Kemp hits walk-off homer

Matt Kemp hit a two-run homer in the 12th inning, giving the Los Angeles Dodgers a 5-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday. Rookie left-hander Jake Diekman (2-0) walked Mark Ellis with one out and Kemp drove a 1-0 pitch the other way into the pavilion seats in right-center for his 13th home run and sixth career walkoff homer, capping the 4-hour, 25-minute marathon...

Stephen Fife set for MLB debut as Chad Billingsley heads to DL … sigh

Previously, I took a look at potential Chad Billingsley replacements at AAA in Stephen Fife and John Ely, wondering whether Ely would ever get another crack. Well, today the Dodgers put Billingsley on the 15-day DL and promoted Fife to start. The Dodgers placed right-hander Chad Billingsley on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday with

Chicago Cubs Rumors: Los Angeles Dodgers Make Offer For Ryan Dempster

The Los Angeles Dodgers have fallen behind in the National League West race and are now desperately trying to right the ship. With that in mind they have officially made an offer to the Chicago Cubs for right-hander Ryan Dempster. The Dodgers have long been considered the front-runners for Dempster, but now the two sides have exchanged offers. Additionally, the Cubs would like to...

Blue Crew Report

By SBRForum.com The LA Dodgers got back Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier for their second-half playoff run last week, and with their return LA was very popular among those handing out free MLB picks during its weekend series vs. San Diego. But even though Kemp and Ethier batted .500 on the weekend, LA managed to lose two of three games to the Padres, and gave up first...

GIFcap: Mattycakes Is Back In Style

So Matt Kemp won the game for the Dodgers yesterday by both beating out an infield single to tie the game and hitting a walk-off two-run bomb. Quite frankly though, I’m not sure what I was happier about, the fact that the game was tied (above), the fact that the game was won (below), or

The Phils win their third game in a row as they hang on to win a squeaker in LA, beating the Dodgers, 3-2.

The Phils hang on to win a close one in LA, as they beat the Dodgers, 3-2. The Phils took the lead in the second as, with one man on, and with two men out, Juan Pierre hits an RBI single, knocking in Carlos Ruiz, who had earlier doubled, giving the Phils a 1-0 lead. The Phils took a 2-0 lead in the third as, with one man out, Jimmy Rollins hits a solo home run, his ninth home run...

Dodgers 5, Phillies 3 (12)

The Dodgers were long overdue for a win and Matt Kemp was long overdue for a home run, and the 12th inning at Dodger Stadium saw both on Wednesday afternoon. Kemp’s walk-off home run gave the Dodgers a 5-3 win over the Phillies and snapped a four-game losing streak. It was Kemp's first homer since April 30, snapping a homer-less drought of 71 plate appearances. The Phillies...

Update 8:40pm: Jon Heyman is tweeting that the Dodgers and Cubs are still debating the prospects in the proposed deal.
