The Los Angeles Dodgers can’t seem to catch a break so far this winter as they are still awaiting on Zack Greinke‘s decision. The winter’s top prize seems like he will be signing with the Rangers any day now. The Dodgers are willing to pony up a record setting amount of money to make Grienke the richest pitcher in baseball, however, it doesn’t seem like Greinke wants to pitch for the Dodgers to me. If he wanted to play for the Dodgers wouldn’t he have signed as soon as the Dodgers attempted to show him the money. Some blame it on taxes, some blame the Dodgers for not wanting to include a no-trade clause, I just don’t think Greinke wants to be a Dodger. Negotiations with Ryu-Hyun Jin haven’t gone much better as the Dodgers still seem far apart in reaching a deal. The deadline to reach a deal is less than 48 hours away, so it’s crunch time fellas. It looks like talks are going to go right down to the wire and the Dodgers are becoming less optimistic that a deal gets done. The Dodgers are still keeping tabs on Anibal Sanchez, Kyle Lohse, James Shields, and their trade options regarding R.A. Dickey and James Shields. I’m sure there are plenty more as well. No talks of David Price, so I am officially debunking that rumor. I haven’t found a reliable source on that yet. No C.C. Sabathia either. I will say that a lot of speculation is growing that the Dodgers are talking a Dee Gordon for Felix Hernandez trade scenario, but at this point it is just speculation. The Dodgers are still looking for a left-handed reliever after losing Randy Choate to the Cardinals. I am good with Scott Elbert and Paco Rodriguez until one or both of them show they aren’t capable of handling the job. The Dodgers are also still looking for an outfielder, a solid bench/utility player, and remain intent on putting an All-Star at every position. So what about Emilio Bonifacio? I like the way he would fit in with the Dodgers current roster. That’s my out of the box thought for the day. Not a big fan of the Skip Schumaker rumors yet, maybe he could grow on me, but I just don’t see it. I’m still reeling at the loss of Alfredo Silverio yesterday, not happy about this, not one bit.
