Up above, video of Friday night's controversy in which Drew Storen and Craig Stammen had to have the laces snipped on their gloves. Apparently the request did not come from the Brewers, but was made by Home Plate umpire Chad Fairchild, who was enforcing a new MLB directive. Stupid rules. Brewers beat the Nats 4-2.
Williams said the umps, not the Brewers, were the ones asking about the length of laces on relievers gloves.

Matt Williams said MLB issued directive recently for pitchers to cut glove strings. Umps asked for it tonight, not Brewers.
