The Outside Corner:
Our first week of previews rolls along today with Los Angeles Angels day. The Angels came into 2012 with a ton of expectations and couldn't even crack the playoffs, and might have even more pressure on them going into 2013 after the addition of Josh Hamilton. We'll be rolling today's pieces about the Angels out at the same timeslots as we've been doing, so keep an eye out for all of that.
In case you missed it, yesterday was Mariners day on TOC. Here's a recap of all of that.

New Angels slugger Josh Hamilton credits a new diet featuring plenty of fruit and vegetable juices to showing up at training camp feeling great and weighing 225 pounds.
TEMPE, Ariz. -- An MRI test has showed mild inflammation but no significant damage to Ryan Madson's surgically repaired elbow, a huge relief for the Angels reliever.
However, Madson will not resume throwing for at least another week, and he is expected to open the regular season on the disabled list.
"I was pointing toward the season opener, and I think that maybe got...
In the This Is My Nightmare series, we'll take a look at what the absolute worst case scenario for each team would be in 2013. Think of it as the negative complement to our You May Say I'm A Dreamer series that we'll be running during our preview series.
A lot of the 2013 Angels season depends on their pitching staff. It's led by CJ Wilson and Jered Weaver, but...
With uber-porspect Mike Trout graduating to the majors -- and doing so in MVP fashion, whether he won the award or not -- the Angels system lacks a true standout future star and is in dire need of replenishment.

I hear a lot of gripes about the Angels minor league system lately. Some of them are founded and others completely unfounded, so I thought I’d take the time to address some of these individually.
1. The Angels minor league system is empty. The cupboard is bare.
Pretty general, but yeah I get it, not a ton of Top 100 prospects to be excited about. However, consider...
The Los Angeles Angels head into 2013 as a nearly unanimous favorite to capture the AL West this season, if not take home the pennant in the American League. With the addition of Josh Hamilton to a lineup that laready featured a few big names in it, it isn't difficult to see why.
Aside from the main guys (Hamilton, Pujols, Trout, etc.), there are a couple of folks who could...
Well, I reviewed the position and personal battles for every pitcher in Angels training camp, so I guess I should do the batters too, right? I really wish I had realized how many freaking people were in camp before I decided to do this, but I made my bed, so I guess I have to lie in it. This is going to take awhile though, so go ahead and run out for a cup of coffee. It's cool...

Is the Angels' rebuilt rotation good enough for them to return to the playoffs?
Last year, the Angels thought they could bury the American League in an avalanche of starting pitching talent. It was a great plan on paper except for the part where they forgot about the possiblity of injuries because...
For a year and a half, Scott Downs was a savior for the Angels bullpen, but he became part of the problem in the final months of last season. Is the veteran southpaw finally starting to break down? Is he just being infected by the rest of the Bullpen of Perpetual Sorrow? Is there any saving him?

Sticking with our theme of the day, I must come clean. I love baseball, I love watching baseball, and I enjoy watching players who are not members of my favorite team. But there is one player in particular who gives me the chills every time I see him play.
The year was 2008, the Chicago Cubs finished with the second best record in all of baseball and due to the supplemental draft...
Continuing from our season preview of the Rangers earlier today...
Are the Rangers going to be able to adequately replace the offense that Josh Hamilton and Mike Napoli provided to the team in 2012?
Hamilton and Napoli provided a ton of offense for the Rangers during their careers in Texas. In just over 1050 plate appearances last season, the duo combined for 67 homers, an...
