The Mets have re-signed Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez to a 2-year, $11 million deal. At first this was being reported as $6 million over 2 years, not per. It's a bit steep, but this is a franchise that's approaching Yankee-levels of revenue, so it's hardly a budget buster. Last year for the Mets and Diamondbacks he was 11-11 with a 4.66 ERA, though he pitched rather well for the Mets, posting a 4.09 ERA and a 9-7 record. And had the Mets won that infernal seventh game against the Cards, he likely would have been their game one starter in the World Series. He's an ageless wonder who pitches best in pressure spots. I think it was a good decision to keep him aboard.
