As expected the Mets placed Ramon Martinez on the disable list, Martinez will under go surgery on his broken finger and will be out 6-8 weeks.The Mets had just traded for Brown and assigned the journeyman outfielder to Buffalo, when they recalled him. Jerry Manuel was on WFAN, yesterday and it basically sounded like he was campaigning for a trade. Manuel stated that he needed veterans, who could handle all of the injuries and step up to carry the team. Manuel went on to say, that Murphy and Martinez were nice complimentary pieces at this stage in their career but weren't ready to carry a team. So maybe Brown is the start of the veteran influx...Emil Brown never even made it to Coca-Cola Field. The veteran outfielder was called up from the Bisons to the Mets, leaving Norfolk in time to be in uniform for Wednesday's game in Pittsburgh.
