Kelvim EscobarOriginally uploaded by Michael G. BaronNot that he'll be returning to the Mets, unless they bring him in on a minor league invite, but here's an update on Kelvim Escobar. The righty was brought in last year to become the set-up man but due to injuries never pitched a game for the Mets. Escobar has been cleared to resume pitching activities and should be ready for spring training. Dr. Altchek recommends that he relieves and not return to starting pitching. Escobar has only pitched five innings since 2007.Just to get a time line Escobar had the same surgery as Johan, his surgery was in June and this past week he was cleared, he should be game ready by April ( approx. five month recovery to start throwing by Escobar). The free agent expects to be ready to pitch when the season begins in April. Escobar, 34, had his surgery in June. Dr. David Altchek, who performed the procedure, examined Escobar in New York last week and was satisfied with his progress. source Yaho...
