Rays third baseman Evan Longoria left in the second inning of Friday’s game against Detroit due to irritating the plantar fasciitis in his right foot. Some reports say he has been playing through soreness in that area for a few weeks. After their 6-3 loss to the Tigers, manager Joe Maddon was cautious while addressing the All-Star’s injury. “Little bit tender in the foot area,” Maddon said. “We have to wait for it to calm down tomorrow to make a better evaluation.” Longoria is batting .298 with 17 home runs and 47 RBI this season. The team can not afford losing him for any amount of time for the third straight season. If no Longoria, can Wil Myers make up for it?
