The Phillies after managing to “surge” to the plus side in the win column quickly showed us in Milwaukee they are sellers. Managing only one run in yesterdays loss and lets face it, without Dom Brown and Cliff Lee it would already be long over. Who will or should the Phillies be moving? Once or if Chase Utley is healthy he should be moved immediately as it is highly unlikely he will be signed again next season. As many rumors fly in regards to Cliff Lee (Texas being one) I for one would hate to see him go. With that said, he could certainly bring us some talent. Papelbon another rumored to be moving before or at the deadline, well they aren’t too many games to save are there? Another Phillie’s that NEEDs to go, Delmon Young and Lance Nix, figure on a bag of used balls and a water cooler. Sadly the Phillies have little to offer in trade, Chooch a possibility when again healthy the last of any players that could fetch much of anything in minor league talent. It is officially over, despite what the standings say.Similar Posts: Its time for the Phillies to move Howard out of the cleanup spot May and Phillies trade talk, supporting cast failing to produce Cliff Lee stops the bleeding again, lifeless Phils return home Next up Washington, are they must win games? Zambrano Nearing – Is He The Best Option?

The big Phillies news this morning was that Carlos Zambrano will be headed to Triple-A Lehigh Valley to pitch against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders on Thursday night. Zambrano has pitched well against Minor League opponents (16.1 IP, 10 H, 1 ER, 12 K, 7 BB per Matt Provence) and reiterated his readiness to pitch for the Phillies after his weekend start with the Fightins. “I’m...

Photo by: Jay Floyd According to Reading Fightins Director of Public Relations Eric Scarcella, the Phillies have done some reorganizing in their minor league ranks to adjust for Steven Lerud‘s promotion to the Phillies. Phillies Draft Notes: Familiar Names, Family Ties, Football Stars & Offense

Offense was the primary focus early in this year’s draft for the Phillies.  With their each of their first five selections and eight of 11 picks to start the draft focused on position players, the Phillies seem to be realizing that the core of home grown talent that helped the team achieve all of their success in recent years is aging and the time has come to focus on filling...

Pettibone Struggles; Phillies Lose Series

The Phillies were blown out by the Brewers, 9-1. The Brewers took the series 3-1. Rough Second Inning for Pettibone The Brewers put up a four-spot in the second inning against Jonathan Pettibone. Pettibone made a fielding error to begin the inning. He then proceeded to give up a single and hit a batter. The mistakes proved costly, as the inning was capped off by Scooter Gennett’s...

What does Sunday's game say about the character of the Phillies?

Sunday was a tough day for Phillies fans who still want to believe this team has a chance. Even worse than losing three of four to a last place team and dropping to 2 games under .500 was how the Phillies appeared to lay down on Sunday. After allowing four runs in the third inning to fall behind 4-0, Jonathan Pettibone worked a 7 pitch walk. The Phillies would see seven pitches...

Believe in the Phillies- Loco en la Cabeza

*After Thursday's win, the Phillies finally had a winning record.  However, they promptly lost the last two nights to the lowly Brewers.  Once again, I feel the need to point out to people that "believe" in this team, that they are loco en la cabeza.  Milwaukee has one of the worst pitching staffs in all of baseball, yet the Phils offense make them look passable...

Erik Kratz Is The Latest Injured Phillies Player

The Phillies already depleted roster suffered another blow tonight when they lost their backup catcher to an injury of his own. Erik Kratz played all nine innings but according to The Delaware News Journal's Chris Branch, "felt a pop" and was unable to walk down the steps to the dugout....

Young Brewers fan shares his Twizzlers with Cliff Lee (Video)

Your browser does not support iframes. A young Milwaukee Brewers fan put on a nice demonstration of hospitality by sharing one of his Twizzlers with Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cliff Lee during Friday night's game at Miller Park. Lee was warming up in the on-deck circle for one of his at-bats when the young Brewers fan in the second row offered him a Twizzler, which Lee...

Painful Math: Adding Up the 2013 Phillies Season So Far

It is a very good thing that I already have a college degree. Because this Phillies season is giving me many compelling reasons to hate math, which is generally not a good thing where school is concerned. If I had to walk into a calculus class right now, I may run screaming from the room instead. Call it a math hangover. Or just call it the 2013 Phillies season, which has been a...

Phillies rumors: Philadelphia becoming buyers?

You knew this was going to happen. Last week everyone was talking about the Philadelphia Phillies selling off their veteran assets with an eye to the future. Now, after a winning streak – five consecutive wins against the cellar-dwelling Miami Marlins and Milwaukee Brewers – there is once again talk that the Phillies could look to add to their veteran-laden roster for a...

Video: Cliff Lee gets licorice from fan while in on-deck circle

Your browser does not support iframes. It's been said that sharing is caring. But what about if that sharing comes with the enemy?Well, one young Milwaukee Brewers fan was feeling generous Friday night when Phillies pitcher stepped into the on-deck circle. The fan was munching on some licorice when he decided to offer up a piece to Lee, as well.As you can see, Lee happily accepts...

Phillies Lose 9-1, And That's About It

It seems to be the theme of this year's Phillies squad: Get back to a .500 record. Once again, Jonathan Pettibone and the boys in red went into today's action eyeing an even win-loss total. On the mound for the Brewers was former Phillies Kyle Lohse, whose 1-6 record and...

Brown’s Heroics Not Enough as Phils Fall to Milwaukee

The Phillies were coming off a loss for the first time all week Saturday night and looked to get back to .500 against the Brewers in Milwaukee. Kyle Kendrick, one of the more consistent starters in 2013 got the call for Philadelphia, opposed by the Milwaukee bullpen. Yes you read that right, the Brewers countered [...]

Video: Cliff Lee snags some Twizzlers from a fan

While in the on-deck circle, Phillies pitcher Cliff Lee turned around, reached out, and accepted some Twizzlers from a Brewers fan in the stands. Good times.

Death By Twizzler: Cliff Lee Gets No Decision

You could blame the Phillies pitching, stinky offense or the sloppy defense for last night’s 4-5 loss to the Brewers.  Or you can join me in blaming the Twizzlers.  I do believe that red devil candy somehow sucked the mojo right out of Cliff Lee.  The fact that the evil licorice was handed to Lee by a young Brewers fan reinforces my theory: Then again, a few other factors may...
