Cameron Maybin Figuring It Out a Second Time

The San Diego Padres didn’t play on Monday, which means the San Diego Padres didn’t win on Monday. We currently live in a world in which this is an infrequent occurrence. We currently live in a world in which the Padres, Orioles, and A’s keep on winning, and the Red Sox have one of their worst rosters people can remember. In some ways this was a gradual shift and in other ways...

Everth Cabrera turns an acrobatic double play

Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera might not grade out too highly with defensive metrics, and isn't too great of a hitter, but he's had his share of great plays this season. A play in Tuesday night's Padres-Diamondbacks game might be near the top of the charts though. Cabrera fielded a Paul Goldschmidt grounder and took to second himself instead of wasting time flipping...

To play or not to play, that is the Padres' Quentin question

With 15 games to go in the season, the San Diego Padres could be reaching decision time with left fielder Carlos Quentin. Before that, Quentin had missed...

With two outs,...

Coleman honored with statue at Petco

The San Diego Padres honored longtime broadcaster Jerry Coleman on Saturday night, unveiling a bronze statue of him at Petco Park. In a 30-minute pregame ceremony, the club gave thanks to Coleman for his 70 years of major league service -- 40 with the Padres -- along with his career over two wars as a Marine Corps pilot. ''I think the greatest thing that happened to me...
