Mike Puma of the New York Post, reports that Terry Collins was yelled at five times a day by general manager Sandy Alderson regarding the team’s approach during Spring Training, according to a team source.
Alderson insisted that the team had to show the kind of selectivity at the plate that has been a hallmark of the general manager’s career.
As a result, the Mets are seeing...
Matt Harvey almost made history on Saturday for the Mets, coming within seven outs of pitching the franchise’s second no-hitter. Although he didn’t keep the Twins hitless, he did keep them behind the Mets all day en route to his third consecutive victory to start the season.
Given the weather forecasts for Minneapolis today and Denver during the week, the Mets might have to...
The New York Mets were hoping that Johan Santana and Shaun Marcum would be occupying spots in the starting rotation for the majority of the 2013 season. Unfortunately, here we are in the middle of April, and neither one has thrown a regular season pitch. Santana is lost for the year after re-tearing his shoulder capsule, while Marcum has been on the disabled list since March 22nd...
The other day I noticed my kid was reading this book that I recognized from when I was around his age. Jonathan Livingston Seagull, by Richard Bach. The short novel about the transcendent ascension of a seagull who refused to be confined by the boundaries of his own defining limitations. He flew higher, faster, until he became a kind of zen master of flight and was even able to teleport...
After 10 games this season, Ike Davis has a .128/.244/.205 slash line. Those who want to focus on the positive will point out that he’s doing an excellent job with a 13.3 BB/9 and how nobody can look good when they possess a .154 BABIP, which will certainly go up in the weeks and months ahead.
Also, Davis had a .139/.205/.306 slash line after 10 games last year and he recovered...
Tweet For the second day in a row the New York Mets had their game postponed because of wintry conditions. Sunday, the Mets were unable to complete their three-game series with the Minnesota Twins due to a mixture of light snow and rain in the Minneapolis area. Monday, the team was scheduled to begin [...]

The opponent and city may change, but the weather continues to be an additional hurdle for the New York Mets.
Troy Tulowitzki and the Colorado Rockies have been challenging enough.
After rain and snow postponed their latest scheduled contest, the Mets will need to contend with the elements again as they try to solve Tulowitzki and end a four-game skid to the Rockies on Monday night...
Although the New York Mets lost both ends of a doubleheader against the Colorado Rockies last night, they continue to provide more offense than expected. David Wright hit his first two home runs of the season in the first game, and Marlon Byrd drove in three runs in the nightcap to continue his strong start.
Sandy Alderson has been steadfast in his desire for the Mets to take more...
