More often than not, the No. 1 goal of a young baseball fan attending a game is to get themselves a baseball. Many times, those youngsters don’t get a ball, and that’s a bummer. What’s even more of a bummer, though, is when you’re oh so close to getting a ball, but it just doesn’t work out. That’s what happened for a young Arizona Diamondbacks fan Sunday at Chase Field. Armed with a glove and wearing a D-Backs hat with a matching shirt that read “Baseball,” one little guy was ready to go. Sitting in the right-field seats, it would seem that he might be in position to catch a home run ball. However, when a foul ball ricocheted into the outfield, little Johnny D-Backs got his chance. The outfielder threw the ball into the seats, when someone leaped up and snatched the ball out of the air, denying the little dude his baseball. That, of course, led to a bummed-out boy, which eventually led to tears. The young fan buried his head in his hands, inconsolable after not being able to get his hands on a baseball. That’s when another fan, a young Giants fan no less, came into save the day. He handed his souvenir baseball to the young Diamondbacks fan, immediately making things better. The Giants fan was hooked up, too, as he was greeted with high fives upon returning to his seat. He was also given a ball of his own after his kind gesture was caught on the game’s broadcast. Check out the adorable moment in the video below and maybe even have your faith in humanity (and the next generation) restored, even if just for a few minutes. Your browser does not support iframes.
