Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports is reporting that San Francisco Giants reliever Guillermo Mota has been suspended 100 games for testing positive for clenbuterol. This is Mota's second suspension under the MLB's drug policy. His first suspension came after the 2006 season, when Mota was with the Mets, and sidelined him for the first 50 games of the 2007 season. Clenbuterol is listed as a decongestant that is primarily used by people with asthma. It has not been approved for use in the United States by the FDA, but can be acquired on the black market. Clenbuterol is also generally used by athletes to build muscle mass, and it is a pretty strong thermogenic. While I'm sure Mota will point to its use as a decongestant...let's be honest here. The 38 year-old Mota is making $1 million for the Giants this seaon, and has a 5.06 ERA in 10 2/3 innings. As this is his second strike under the MLB's drug policy, if he tests positive one more time, he'll be banned for life...
