TEAMS: Philadelphia Phillies, Atlanta Braves
Fresh off one of the worst starts of his career, Roy Halladay has the left Philadelphia Phillies to attend to a personal matter.
Roy Halladay was staked to a 6-0 lead last night against the Atlanta Braves, but wound up giving up 8 runs on 12 hits in 5.1 innings. Halladay gave up a grand slam to Brian McCann to tie the game at 6.
The Phillies wound up losing the game 15-13 on a Chipper Jones walk off home run in the bottom of the 11th.
According to the Phillies, Halladay informed them he would have to leave the team after the game last night. There is no word on what the family issue is, but Halladay is expected to re-join the Phillies Friday night in Washington for their game versus the Nationals.
Whatever the family matter is, it may explain why Halladay blew a lead of 4 or more runs for the first time in his 13 year career. The story reminds me of a game last season in Arizona in which Roy Oswalt was lit up when word that tornadoes had devastated his hometown. Oswalt left the ...

LEGO Roy Halladay? LEGO (rip-off) Roy Halladay
The inner-LEGO nerd in me finds this to be a fascinating new item, now available in the Majestic Clubhouse Store. Now you can field an entire team of Phillies with your old (or current?) LEGO collection with the new collection from OYO Sports Toys.
That's right, for $12.99 each you can build and assemble your very own Phillies roster, complete with bendable knees (unlike standard...

Philadelphia Phillies: encore
Roy Halladay and the aces of the Philadelphia Phillies are living up to their billing, but not all other hyped staffs are. The experts say pitching continues to be the dominant force, but are they relying on easy numbers? Is it worth watching a national baseball broadcast to hear surface-oriented information? Facts are like an iceberg: Most of it is below the visible line.

Blanton Channels Halladay In Complete Game Shut-Out
Since Roy Halladay was unable to perform like Roy Halladay on Wednesday night, Joe Blanton decided to step in and give it a try. Blanton did such a great Halladay impersonation that he managed to shut-out the Braves in a 3-hit complete game for a 4-0 Phillies win.
But maybe Blanton was not channeling the spirit of an ace pitcher at all; maybe this is just who Blanton is when he is...
