Born on this day in 1974.

Tadahito Iguchi will probably go down as one of the most unsung heroes in Phillies history. Acquired in the middle of the 2007 season Iguchi came form the Chicago White Sox to play an important role for the Phillies - fill in for the injured Chase Utley.

Iguchi provided the Phillies with a solid bat and a decent glove while Utley's hand healed after being hit by a pitch from John Lannan of the Washington Nationals. Who could forget Iguchi scoring the game winning run against the Mets in an extra inning affair at Citizens Bank Park one beautiful summer day?

I will never forget, and hopefully you will not either.

Iguchi filled in nicely and really helped the Phillies continue their march to an improbably NL East division title in 2007. Thank you Iguchi. And may you have a happy birthday!
