Alright, so Matt Harvey is still a rookie, and he’s allowed to get hit from time to time.  I was still encouraged by tonight’s outing though, because he didn’t walk a lot of guys.  Even though he faced the Padres tonight, they still have a line up full of major league hitters, and they’re still professionals.  Anyone who thought that Harvey would remain dominant in every start of his for the remainder of the season were not being realistic.  He’s still a kid, and he’s still a rookie, and he’s still learning.  So let’s take a positive out of this afternoon’s loss, and that was his control.  For now, we’ll ignore the 8 hits he gave up…

On the whole though, this wasn’t a bad West Coast trip, but losing today was a rough one.  7-4 on this trip would have looked a whole lot better than 6-5, but on the whole this was a successful trip for the Mets.  Now, if they can only start winning at home and make the rest of this season fun, again.

PLAYERS: Matt Harvey
