In Monday's installment of "Nationals players signing autographs", we checked in with a video of Ryan Zimmerman signing from his Bentley on his way out of Nationals Park on Saturday. Also on Saturday: a photo of Gio Gonzalez signing an autograph for what appears to be a poodle (Photo via @NationalsPR). Gio starts tonight in San Diego for the Nats. Oh, and speaking of Nationals players signing autographs: Don't forget Wilson Ramos signing at HOF Cards in Potomac on Sunday, May 6. Befriend the Nats Enquirer on Facebook. Follow us on Twitter.

Marlins, Johnson try to take down Nationals

The Washington Nationals' pitching staff has been outstanding this season. Newcomer Gio Gonzalez has played a big part in that. The South Florida native will look to extend his 14-inning scoreless streak at Nationals Park on Sunday when NL East-leading Washington tries to end an 11-game homestand with its first sweep of the Miami Marlins in three seasons. With Ross Detwiler...

Nationals 3, Padres 1

Gio Gonzalez ran his scoreless innings streak to 20 over three starts and the NL East-leading Washington Nationals beat the San Diego Padres 3-1 on Tuesday night on just four hits at spacious Petco Park. Chad Tracy, pinch-hitting for Gonzalez, hit a two-run single with one out in the seventh to chase Clayton Richard. San Diego, last in the NL West, was trying for its first three...

Oakland's offseason acquisitions are off to strong starts

The Oakland A's aren't feeling too badly about those deals they made in the offseason. Tommy Milone, picked up in the Gio Gonzalez trade with the Washington Nationals, is 3-1 with a 2.00 ERA. Ryan Cook, acquired in the Trevor Cahill deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks, is the A's top right-handed set-up man and he has not allowed a run this season. On Wednesday, the...

Ryan Zimmerman's shoulder looked fine signing autographs in his Bentley on Saturday

Here's video (via AllStarsPlus) of Ryan Zimmerman signing autographs for fans after the Nationals walk-off win on Saturday. His shoulder looked good there. Apparently that was Rick Ankiel laying on his horn at the end of the clip. Zim, of course, was a late scratch on Saturday because of a sore shoulder.  So, we're trying to take a more positive, panic-free, approach...

Nationals Pitching Somehow Gets Even Better As They Win NL Best 13th Game

The Washington Nationals beat the San Diego Padres 3-1 on Tuesday night, and the team improved to 13-4 on the season. The common theme continued to be remarkable pitching. Gio Gonzalez spun another gem: six innings, no runs, two hits, six Ks, two walks. The only reason Gonzalez was pulled after six was because he came up in the batting order, and the team needed runs desperately...

Checking In On Tommy Milone, Derek Norris, Brad Peacock, and A.J. Cole

Gio Gonzalez earned his second win of the season last night, tossing six shutout innings while allowing just two hits and striking out six. By every measurable account, the decision to acquire the hard throwing left-hander via trade has been a smashing success thus far. While he's only four starts into the season, you could make a reasonable argument that he's been the team...

Nationals 3B Zimmerman expected to play Tuesday

Washington Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman expects to play when the team opens a three-game road series against the San Diego Padres Tuesday.Zimmerman was a late scratch due to shoulder inflammation for Saturday’s game against the Miami Marlins and will have three full days off to rest after Sunday’s finale with Miami was postponed due to rain.Zimmerman is hitting .224...

Zimmerman has A/C Inflammation, Feels Good About Prognosis

The news that Washington Nationals fans have been waiting for has finally arrived, and it's good... mostly. Amanda Comak of The Washington Times reports that Ryan Zimmerman has the A/C joint issue in his shoulder that was reported earlier, but there is no "injury" to speak of in his shoulder. This is stellar news for the Nationals, and Zimmerman feels confident that...

Nationals-Padres Preview

The Washington Nationals are bringing their impressive ERA and penchant for winning close games to the West Coast. They'll send Gio Gonzalez to the mound in the opener of a three-game set against the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night. Washington (12-4) will play its first six games against NL West opponents on this trip, moving on to face the Dodgers on Friday. The Nationals...

Surprise! Look who's not in the Nats starting lineup playing third base tonight...

The shot above of Mike Morse photobombing Ryan Zimmerman following yet another walkoff by Mr. Walkoff in 2010 is perfectly appropriate for the news that Zim is not in the Nats starting lineup tonight in San Diego. Seems like only Saturday Zim was saying stuff like this his sore shoulder: "It’s nothing. It’s something that I could have played through. It’s been...

Daily Friar 4.25.12

The Padres couldn't extend their 2 game winning streak to 3 last night. After a pitchers duel between Clayton Richard and Gio Gonzalez ended in Richard throwing one too many pitches. The homplate umpire was of no help last night either. Calling a balk on Richard that the first base umpire didn't even call. Then calling a ball way off the plate a strike to get Cameron Maybin...

Nationals GM Mike Rizzo Talks About Tyler Moore, Ryan Zimmerman, Stephen Strasburg, and More on ...

There’s a lot going on with the Washington Nationals organization now with a winning ball club, Ryan Zimmerman’s injury with a still unknown timetable, and many other topics. Here are some quotes from Nats GM Mike Rizzo on a variety of topics from his interview at 11:30 this morning on 106.7 The Fan with Holden and Danny. On bringing up Tyler Moore to fill in the hole in left...

Daily Notes | Rain Impacts Zimmerman

Rain rain go away. Three games were postponed today which will lead to a double header tomorrow between the Mets and Giants for daily leagues looking to score a few extra at-bats or a cheap save out of the ordeal. Ryan Zimmerman and the Nationals were pleased by this news too. Zimmerman wasn't going to play (shoulder), but thinks he should be good to go when the Nats resume their...

Jordan Zimmermann helped set a Washington record for the longest scoreless innings streak for starters before Orlando Hudson homered and the NL East-leading Nationals beat the Padres 7-2 on Wednesday. Zimmermann held San Diego without...
