Here at Mets360 we write about the team every day and we do it without access to the players. This has its advantages and disadvantages and it is silly to pretend otherwise. Having first-hand quotes gives stories a legitimacy that they would not have otherwise and frequently there is value to the insight given by players. But we do not have to play favorites nor hope that player X is in a good mood and actually says something worthwhile. Plus, not having the “crutch” of the go-to quote forces us to look other places for stories, where we frequently wind up with, in my opinion, much better articles. Plus, having spent some time in clubhouses ranging from the high school level to the pros in baseball, basketball and football – I can tell you it’s not fun. My last clubhouse experience was getting big-timed by the Nets’ Deron Williams, who made me and about 20 other people wait forever, just because he could. You are a prince among men, Deron – don’t ever change. Still, I would li...

Parnell too important to Mets future to trade right now

Over the weekend in an article about American League East bullpen woes, Boston Globe writer Nick Cafardo mentioned that the Mets are getting calls about relief pitcher Bobby Parnell. There’s a lot of demand for bullpen arms due to the abundance of relief pitcher injuries and/or ineffectiveness across the league. Does that mean the Mets should trade a part of their future? So far...

Prospect Pulse: 20 Hottest Mets Prospects

One thing you will surely notice when reading this is that a few of these guys do not fit the standard definition of “prospect.” There are a handful of veteran players here who are having too good of a season to ignore. So I have stretched the classic definition of prospect to include minor league veterans who are candidates to get a big league call-up. Therefore some of the...

Mets SS Tejada expected to land on DL

Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada appeared set for the disabled list after negative MRI exam results on the strained right quadriceps he suffered Sunday, a team source told the New York Post. Tejada will be further examined Monday but was regarded as "very likely" to be sidelined, the source said. Tejada's spike caught in the clay as he legged out a bunt single with two...

The Sky’s The Limit For Mets’ OF Prospect Travis Taijeron

Today, Mets outfield prospect Travis Taijeron was named the South Atlantic League’s Player of the Week. The Mets’ 18th-round pick last June, Taijeron has been a run-producing machine for the Sand Gnats. The 23-year-old outfielder homered twice, doubled and drove in five runs at Lexington on Monday, went deep again Wednesday, then ripped off three straight three-hit games while extending...

Mets vs. Phillies MLB Free Picks

The Philadelphia Phillies have struggled so far this season without two of their big left-handed bats. The New York Mets have had problems of their own recently in the scoring department. So runs and rallies could be rare when the Phillies and Mets play a three-game series starting Monday. SBRForum.com continues this New York Mets coverage and throws some MLB picks that are worth...

Plate Discipline Doesn’t Mean “Don’t Swing.”

Last night, we had a fan post on here in reaction to Bobby Ojeda’s mini rant on SNY. I have to say, I view it differently than how Ojeda made it sound, or at least how it was viewed by the fan post. Just because the Mets are looking to be disciplined at the plate, doesn’t mean they are refusing to swing the bat. The “philosophy” is meant to force pitchers to throw strikes...
