These emails were sent from the New York Yankees Media Relations Department to members of the media covering Yankees games at events at Yankee Stadium. The NY Yankees charged (and possibly still charge) the media $40-$50 for parking at some events they cover. Yes, charging the media to park when they cover, come and provide free publicity for the Yankees. Hold on, it gets even better. excerpts from email #1: hey there guys… Here are a couple of photos taken tonight at Yankee Stadium for yourselves or to pass along to your media. On top of charging for parking; and food too. You stay classy, New York Yankees! If you’re going to charge the media for pictures, parking and food, then maybe the media should in return charge you? How about $20 per story? Food is a perk, it’s not a necessity. Well, it’s a necessity to live, but that’s not the responsibility of the Yankees. We’ll let that one slide. However, parking and photos YOU KIND OF NEED to do your job! AND YES I TALKED IN ALL CAPS THERE because these two EMAILS WERE IN ALL CAPS; DENOTING THE FACT THAT THEY’RE SHOUTING AT YOU! THE YANKEES TAKE THIS VERY SERIOUSLY! THEY’LL CHARGE YOU FOR PHOTOS! THEY’LL EVEN GO A STEP FURTHER AND PUT ALL CAPS FONT IN BOLD TOO! MEANING THEY’RE REALLY SERIOUS! Out of respect for the Yankees Media Relations official who sent these emails, I redacted his name, phone numbers and email address. I also redacted the fax number. Even though NO ONE uses a fax machine anymore. Maybe the Yankees do; which would be odd. But as you can see from these emails; they’re odd about a lot of things. Paul M.
