Is Derek Lowe A Candidate To Be Traded?

Byrd, Lowe, Perez, and Tomko will be free agents after the season." In direct opposition to that speculation is news that Ned Colletti hasn't ruled out re-signing Lowe. "'I told him (Lowe) we're not slamming the door on him from coming back,' Colletti says. 'In Boston he might have known he was not coming back.'" Comparing the two perspectives, i'd say the latter is the much more likely to occur. Signing a 36-year-old pitcher to a 3 or 4 year deal sounds like something right up Ned's alley. Mainly because it would be the incompetent thing to do.
