Derek Jeter is on the prowl once again. No, he's not putting requests for phone numbers on baseballs and throwing them into the Yankee Stadium bleachers. That would be tacky.
New York's top bachelor — sorry A-Rod — has reportedly been scouring the Manhattan apartment market for a rental after he sold his Trump World Tower penthouse for $15.5 million last week, says The New York Post.
Sources told the Post that before Jeter was injured, the Yankees shortstop looked at a 64-floor, six bedroom space at the Park Imperial on West 56th Street. The $100,000-a-month unit offers views of Central Park and the city.
Robert DeNiro reportedly had dibs on the place until he recently backed out.
The best part of the deal, Donald Trump won't be his pesky landlord.
After selling his luxurious 5425-square-foot apartment to a Brazilian magnate, brokers said Jeter was looking for a pied-a-terre. I'm not sure what that means but, if it's a place with a secret exit so he can still sneak out his lady friends with their swag bags, he'll probably take it.
Jeter — who is having surgery on his broken ankle this weekend — might want to call general manager Brian Cashman and find out if he should sign a one or four-year lease.
