Former NABF Lightweight Champion Josesito Lopez will be spending a special Father's Day this Sunday at Dodger Stadium as he kicks off the official fight week for "Ortiz vs. Lopez" on Saturday, June 23 at STAPLES Center.  Lopez will be giving his best impression of Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw when he takes the mound before Sundays game.  Just prior to that, he will be signing autographs with fans at the "Viva Los Dodgers" event in lot 6 of the Dodger Stadium parking lot. Lopez lives and trains in Riverside, Calif., and is a big fan of the home town teams in Southern California. "I'm a huge baseball fan," said Lopez.  "It's a great honor to be throwing out the first pitch in front of the great fans of Los Angeles.  The success the Dodgers are having this year under their new ownership with Magic Johnson is amazing." "Ortiz vs. Lopez" is a 12-round fight main event for the vacant WBC Silver Welterweight ...

Dodgers Agree To Terms With Onelkis Garcia, 18 Others Signed

The Dodgers front office is working diligently to get all of their 40 draft picks signed before the July 13 deadline. The Dodgers officially have 19 out of their 40 picks signed, so with a little less than a month a way, the Dodgers have just a tidbit shy of half of all their picks signed. The Daily News is reporting that the Dodgers have signed Onelkis Garcia to a contract...

Dodgers not rushing Kemp, Lilly

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been without a pair of key contributors, CF Matt Kemp and LHP Ted Lilly, for a while, and though both are getting closer to rejoining the team there is still no specific timetable for their respective returns. Kemp has been on the disabled list since May 31 with a left hamstring strain, the second one he has suffered this season. He will accompany the...

Surprise teams of the first half: Los Angeles Dodgers

With the All-Star game right around the corner, we’re almost to the unofficial halfway point of the baseball season. As with any given year, the first half of baseball has given us plenty of thrilling moments, introduced us to some exciting young players, and produced some incredible storylines. The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of those storylines, leading all of baseball in wins...

L.A. Dodgers: MLB Son Factory

Scott Van Slyke, Dee Gordon, Jerry Hairston Jr., Tony Gwynn Jr, and Ivan De Jesus Jr. have all played for the Los Angeles Dodgers this season.  What do they have in common aside from donning Dodger blue?  They are all the son's of former MLB players.Scott's dad Andy was an all-star center fielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates.Dee's dad Tom was a closer for many years with...

Kershaw suddenly struggling at home

Clayton Kershaw has had tremendous success so far in his career, especially at home. But Friday night continued a disturbing trend for Kershaw at Dodger Stadium. Kershaw allowed five runs in six innings against the White Sox, his second straight home start in which he has allowed five or more runs. It is the only time in Kershaw's career that he has allowed more than three...

2012 MLB Draft: Dodgers Have Signed 18 Picks + Bonus Information

The Dodgers have now signed 18 of the 40 players they selected in the 2012 MLB Draft. In addition to their names, information on the amount it took to sign them has come out. Supplemental first rounder Jesmuel Valentin signed for slot at $984,700, while fifth rounder Ross Stripling was inked for well below slot

Kershaw, Sale matchup fails to impress

LOS ANGELES It was supposed to be a battle between the two best young lefthanded starting pitchers in baseball. However, as is often the case when there's a highly-touted matchup, it didn't quite live up to the billing. Reigning National League Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw was shaky from the beginning, as Adam Dunn launched a two-run homer in the top of the first...

Bobby Abreu and the Angels both got what they wanted

MWAH has a new writer, Mr. Loren Robb.  Allow him to introduce himself. Loren Robb, an Angels fan since 2000, was born with a baseball in his hand. Somewhere along the line it fell out, to his dismay, but now he remains an avid spectator from Fountain Valley, CA. Loren attends the University of San Diego as a Marketing major and can be reached at his Facebook, Twitter, or email...

Dodgers have interest in Cubs' RHPs Matt Garza and Ryan Dempster

I wasn't intending to write a post about the Dodgers' interest in Ryan Dempster, but it goes hand-in-hand with the Dodgers' reported interest in Matt Garza. Nathan Eovaldi has filled in admirably in the absence of Ted Lilly. There's no timetable for his return. Everyone behind Clayton Kershaw is no better than a middle-of-the-rotation starting pitcher,...

Dodgers 7, White Sox 6

James Loney scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch by Matt Thornton in the eighth inning, and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Chicago White Sox 7-6 on Friday night in the opener of an interleague series between division leaders. Alex Rios hit his second homer of the game in the top half of the eighth, but the Dodgers went in front again in the bottom half. Loney started the winning...

Dodgers Have Six Quality Starters, But Ryan Dempster Interest Understandable

Rumors have been swirling for a few days now that the Dodgers are interested in Ryan Dempster, but it’s a bit of a curious fit because the Dodgers already have Clayton Kershaw, Chris Capuano, Chad Billingsley, Aaron Harang, Ted Lilly, and Nate Eovaldi on staff. All six of those pitchers (assuming Lilly has no structural

Matt Kemp on Jimmy Kimmel

Dodgers star – and my boo in my head. Yes, it’s a must I remind you – Matt Kemp was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Thursday night. Discussed was Matt’s love of footwear – he owns over 300 pairs (me too Matt well  more like 100 but you see the simpatico), how his mother keeps [...]

White Sox-Dodgers Preview

At age 24, Clayton Kershaw has already won a Cy Young Award with the Los Angeles Dodgers. If 23-year-old Chris Sale continues to pitch the way he has for the Chicago White Sox this season, he could be a serious contender for the same honor. Two of the majors' best young left-handers match up Friday night when these first-place teams open a weekend set at Dodger Stadium. While...

Around The Web: Matt Kemp Profile, Budget Bullpen, A Cautionary Tale, A Weird Pitcher

ESPN The Magazine: Molly Knight with a must-read profile on Matt Kemp. Mike Scioscia’s Tragic Illness: Mike Petriello points out that the Dodgers bullpen is excelling … and on the cheap. ESPN Boston: Theo Epstein provides a cautionary tale for the Dodgers. “If I have a regret about the way we handled that offseason (after

Victor Ortiz workout quotes; faces Josesito Lopez next weekend

Victor Ortiz is in the process of wrapping up his training camp for his June 23 fight against Josesito Lopez, to be televised on Showtime. Vicious Victor held a media workout session earlier this week, and right here, you can take a look at what he, his trainer and Oscar De La Hoya had to say about the upcoming match. Of course, a win for Ortiz ensures that he meets Saul Canelo...
