Yesterday, the Dodgers finally made a move. Unfortunately, that move wasn’t Frank McCourt giving up the team, it was their acquisition of left fielder Juan Rivera. The Dodgers in return will send a player to be named or cash. I don’t see how the Dodgers have cash to give considering that they don’t have any, but I guess the Blue Jays really didn’t want him.Rivera is currently batting .243, which is worse than their team average of .284. This move makes no sense. The Dodgers have been getting good production from current left fielder Tony Gwynn Jr. and with top outfield prospects Jerry Sands and Trayvon Robinson both hitting well in Triple-A, this move makes even less sense. The Dodgers will be paying cash for a situational bench player who is no better than the ones they already have. Good Job Dodgers, you replaced Marcus Thames with an even worse player. The only good thing to take from this trade is that the Dodgers, despite lack of money, will be looking to make some moves before the trade deadline on July 31st.
