Today may have just been the most bizarre day of the off season thus far. It began early this morning at 7:00 AM when I read that the Mets had made an offer to shortstop Rafael Furcal. At first I thought, nah... it can't be... but considering I was reading the Los Angeles Times, and that the article was based on direct quotes from Rafael Furcal, it must be true... right? Turns out that according to his agent Paul Kinzer, Furcal was mistaken and it was not the Mets who made the offer, it was the Giants. Hmm... well they sort of sound the same... and they both have orange in their logo... Okay, honest mistake. Then later this afternoon, Sweeny Murti is on WFAN announcing that the Giants had just signed shortstop Edgar Renteria. Okay... that's cool I guess... Now, it's being reported by ESPN that the Giants have denied any deal with Renteria. Can somebody please tell me what the hell is going on?
