PHOENIX Clayton Kershaw is open to negotiating a new contract with the Dodgers but doesnt want the talks to continue beyond spring training. I dont think Im going to let it go into the season, he said. Kershaw reported to the Dodgers spring training facility Tuesday with the teams other pitchers and catchers. He said he and the team still havent opened negotiations. Kershaw is under contract for 11 million this year and will be eligible for salary arbitration next year. He will be eligible for free agency after the 2014 season. Kershaw said he wasn't worried about the amount of industry talk over how lucrative his potential contract might be. There is widespread speculation that a new deal could exceed the 200-million mark. It doesnt bother me because its not true, he said. Its people talking. It really doesnt bother me. I dont love that its in the paper. But at the same time, I know thats the game, so its just not letting it bother you. Kershaw acknowledged that he has an idea of what kind of deal he wants but said his focus is on preparing himself for the upcoming season. For me, thats really my concern at this point, getting ready for April 1, he said. All that stuff will take care of itself. -Dylan Hernandez

Making Moves: Mark Lowe and Kevin Gregg signed and invited to Spring Training

The Dodgers have signed righty reliever Mark Lowe to a minor-league deal with an invitation to Spring Training. Lowe provides further depth to an already deep bullpen corps. He was a solid strikeout man as recently as 2011, but has never been anything more than a back of the pen arm, with a career 4.10 FIP. —– The Dodgers are bringing Kevin Gregg in to camp on a minor-league...

The Perfect Clayton Kershaw Card, The Perfect Printing Plate.

I suppose this is like a Valentine's Day gift to myself even though this purchase occurred at some point in the second half of 2012. That's right, it was so long ago I don't even know the month it became mine. Nevertheless, it was a card I instantly had to have and knew I would end up spending way more money on than I should because of its sheer awesomeness.Where to start...

Dodgers’ Carl Crawford confident he’ll be ready Opening Day

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Carl Crawford is participating in baseball-related activities, but he still has a ways to go in his recovery from Tommy John surgery he underwent in August. Even so, the veteran is confident that he’ll be ready by Opening Day, according to Ken Gurnick of MLB.com. While Crawford believes he’ll be ready by the start of the regular season...

Big expectations match big payroll for Dodgers

PHOENIX The most expensive team in baseball history will start to assemble Tuesday, when pitchers and catchers report to the Dodgers' Arizona spring-training complex. The Dodgers have a projected opening-day payroll of 230 million and a roster that includes a dozen former All-Stars. Several of these players were acquired in the middle of last season, which ended with a shocking...

Lowe, Dodgers agree to minor league deal

LOS ANGELES (AP) Mark Lowe and the Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to a minor league contract, giving the team another bullpen option in spring training. The 29-year-old right-hander was 0-2 with a 3.43 ERA in 36 relief appearances for the Texas Rangers last year, when he didn't pitch in the major leagues from June 25 to Aug. 10 because of a strained muscle in his right side...

Three Dodger Fans Need Your Votes to Represent the Dodgers in the MLB Fan Cave

The 2013 MLB Fan Cave contest is well under way for its third season. Last month, Major League Baseball revealed it’s list of the top 50 candidates out of the tens of thousands of submissions. Every team has at least one representative, but this isn’t about them. This is about the Dodgers, their fans and more importantly their fanatics. This is about having as many Dodger fans...

Happy birthday Kevin Stocker, former Phillies infielder

Today is Kevin Stocker's 42nd birthday. Drafted in 1991, Stocker made his major league debut with the Phillies in 1993 and what a doozy it was. Stocker's debut turned out to be a 20-inning game lasting over six hours against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Mitch Williams blew a save in the ninth inning by allowing two runs, walking three batters and a single to force in one...

Silver On-Card Autos Are The Best Autos.

The moment I saw the below card I knew that it somehow had to be mine. My only requirements as I searched were as much a reasonable price as could be had and minimal chipping around the edges and at the corners.I was thankfully able to fulfill both of those guidelines and I'm thrilled with the newest addition to my Clayton Kershaw PC. I nabbed the above beauty - numbered 19/99...

How Will Felix Hernandez’s Extension Affect Clayton Kershaw and Justin Verlander?

Finalizing his record extension with the Mariners hit a bit of a snag, but Seattle and Felix Hernandez have made their new pact official, guaranteeing King Felix $175 million over the next seven seasons in the Pacific Northwest. It seems risky to lock up so much money to a starting pitcher, but it’s clear that Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik wants to make his ace the centerpiece of...
