Let's Get Some Perspective on Sheffield

If you don't mind, I'd like to weigh in briefly on the Sheffield situation. I read something today by the Post's Joel Sherman that I strongly disagreed with. Let me preface this by telling you that I consider Sherman one of the most worthwhile reads on baseball in the local media. I know, I know... the above statement got me in trouble with those of you that can't stand Sherman, but I really believe it. After my Mom's stroke and the subsequent dumping of all kinds of responsibilities in my lap my time has been at an extreme premium. It's not just the blog which has suffered. I have so little free time to even follow the Mets that I am very careful of what I spend that time reading. Like most writers in town Sherman has some bias towards the Yankees, but he's generally fair and doesn't insult my intelligence with the generalities and simplified story lines that seems to be permeating the media these days.
