April 11, 2011: Stephen Strasburg pitched six shutout innings, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out nine and going over 100 pitches for the first time in his career in the Washington Nationals 4-0 win over the New York Mets. At one point in the game, he retired 12 of 13 hitters, with seven strikeouts.

My fantasy perspective: Strasburg continues to show everyone he’s once again the dominant starter he proved to be before requiring Tommy John surgery in September 2010. In two starts this season covering 13 innings, he’s struck out 14 with a 0.69 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and a .156 BAA (Batting Average Against). Yep, he’s back.

I was skeptical heading into my drafts this offseason that he’d be worth the 66.2 ESPN ADP he’d cost me to draft him but it’s looking like I was wrong. Owners who invested in him this season should be aware that the Nationals have placed a 160 innings pitched limit on him, so you may want to look to flip him at the All-Star break to an owner who’s unaware of this information. Hey, it’s all about winning, isn’t it?
