PLAYERS: Logan Morrison
TEAMS: Miami Marlins

Marlins’ outfielder Logan Morrison is known for his twitter antics, which got him demoted to the minor league last season.

Today he commented on the team’s controversial home run feature that is basically a conglomeration of moving fish and flashing rainbow colors.

Zambrano Walks Five, Takes Loss

Carlos Zambrano had his worst start as a member of the Miami Marlins thus far in Wednesday’s 6-3 loss to the Houston Astros.    The loss is insignificant but the worrisome part was the five walks allowed by Zambrano.   With only one start to go before the regular season, the veteran will look to turn things around against the New York Yankees at Marlins Park in five days....

Outtakes from Logan Morrison cover shoot

Yes, that is Marlins outfielder Logan Morrison pictured above. And yes, he’s dressed as a mermaid on the cover of the Miami New Times. And though, that picture is weird enough in itself, the outtakes are even weirder. Trust us. Via Miami New Times

Marlins release outfielder Aaron Rowand

The Miami Marlins have released outfielder Aaron Rowand according to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com. The Marlins signed him back in December 2011. Rowand hit .233/.274/.347 with 4 HR's and 21 RBI's in 331 AB's with the Giants in 2011 before he was released in September. Reyes picks up two hits in Marlins victory

JUPITER, Fla. (AP) -- Jose Reyes had two hits and Heath Bell pitched a hitless inning to earn his first save for the Miami Marlins, who beat the Washington Nationals 3-1 in an exhibition game on Tuesday. Bell, who signed a 27 million, three-year contract with the Marlins over the winter, struck out two and walked none. Ricky Nolasco pitched 6 1-3 innings to become the first Miami...

Wezen-Ball: Miami's Sound Test by Larry Granillo

As the comments on my last post prove, a clear issue with the video released Monday of the new Miami Marlins home run sculpture coming to life was the lack of stadium celebration music being played in the background. Without it, we weren't getting the full "Marlins Park experience" with their brand new, beyond-unique home run feature. I heard your complaints and...

Reliever Jose Ceda has elbow sprain, Tommy John surgery expected

25-year old right-handed reliever Jose Ceda is out indefinitely due to an elbow sprain. Ceda, who was making a run to be a middle reliever in the Miami Marlins' bullpen, will likely require Tommy John surgery. The surgery, as most people know, takes around a year to recover from. Ceda is a 6'4", 280 LB rookie, has pitched 5 games (7.1 IP) this Spring, sporting a 1...

If forced to choose, Marlins skipper Ozzie Guillen says he’s more of a butt man

As Spring Training winds down, the always entertaining, often illuminating and frequently controversial Ozzie Guillen is currently settling into his role as the brand new Miami Marlins manager. He recently engaged in a Twitter interview with GQ writer Dan Hyman to discuss a multitude of topics baseball-related and otherwise, but by far the most [...]

Zambrano struggles in Marlins loss to Astros

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) -- Lucas Harrell gave up one unearned run in five innings for the Houston Astros on Wednesday in a 6-3 victory over the Miami Marlins. Making a late bid for a spot in the Astros' rotation, Harrell scattered three hits and walked none in his first start of the spring. Marlins starter Carlos Zambrano walked five in four innings for the Marlins. Chris Johnson...

Beltran's homer not enough for Cardinals

JUPITER, Fla. (AP) Anibal Sanchez put to rest any questions about the Miami Marlins' rotation. Sanchez allowed a run in five innings, including Carlos Beltran's second homer, and the Miami Marlins beat the St. Louis Cardinals 3-1 Thursday. Sanchez had been limited to three starts this spring because of a sore shoulder. He gave up two hits and a walk. Matt Holliday walked...

Marlins 3, Nationals 1

Heath Bell pitched a hitless inning to earn his first save for the Miami Marlins, who beat the Washington Nationals 3-1 in an exhibition game on Tuesday. Bell, who signed a $27 million, three-year contract with the Marlins over the winter, struck out two and walked none. Ricky Nolasco pitched 6 1-3 innings to become the first Miami starter to reach the seventh this spring. He allowed...

Notes from the Backfields: Jupiter, FL, Day 3 of 3

I’m currently in Jupiter, Florida, as a guest both of (a) my 91-year-old grandfather and (a) the Miami Marlins of Florida. Today was the third and final day on the backfields here, and what follows represents the third and final installment of mediocre analysis on same. (Read Day 1 and Day 2.) Today, I watched mostly the Double-A game between the Cardinals and Marlins — or, alternately...
