The Miami Marlins lost their fourth straight game on Wednesday as the New York Mets won 5-1.    The game continued a rough road trip for Miami which has not won since leaving Marlins Park last week and has been outscored 12-4 in the span.     The Marlins who are in last place in the National League East now sit at 7-10 on the year.

Mark Buehrle put together another great effort but due to a lack of run support fell to 1-3 on year.   The losing record is deceiving as his 2.63 E.R.A shows.   The Mets managed two runs on five hits in seven innings against the left-hander.   David Wright knocked in both of those runs with a two run home run in the sixth inning.    A day after a bullpen implosion, things weren’t much better for Mike Dunn who allowed three runs while only retiring two hitters.   Dunn was the fourth consecutive pitcher to walk a batter  in Tuesday’s game which made Major League history.   Ryan Webb finished the eighth inning off after Dunn was lifted.

The lone Marlins run came from a familiar source as Omar Infante hit his fifth blast of the season.  In 2011, Infante hit seven home runs all season, however the second baseman did state he was looking to hit for more power this year.    Jose Reyes picked up his first hit against the Mets with a single in the eighth inning, the shortstop was 0-8 in the series prior to the hit.   Giancarlo Stanton’s struggles continued with an error in the eighth inning and a strikeout in the ninth.    Stanton struck out three times in the game and is now hitting .241 on the season.

On Thursday, the Marlins will try to salvage a game on the road trip as they send Ricky Nolasco to the mound to take on Jonathon Niese.
